Account with two debit cards? (for shopping)
What are the best solutions to get an account with two cards (one for my partner and I) if one of the two has a poor credit history? I believe a standard joint account will not only affect one but both credit ratings as soon as you open a joint bank account, as together you will be ‘co-scored’. Any ideas?

Pending Transaction - Natwest
Hi, I attempted to make an order to purchase tickets for a football match abroad. However, through what I believe was the fault of the club's website, my order was not made yet the money was taken out as a pending transaction. I immediately emailed the club when i did not see any payment confirmation and they have claimed…

Fear of overdraft
This might sound ridiculous but I'm a 47 year old care worker so on quite a low income and scared to go a overdrawn. Every month I struggle to make my wage stretch yet I've a £1000 overdraft and the first £250 is fee free yet I'm scared to go a penny overdrawn. The thing is from a young age my parents have drummed into me…

Apply for a new current account at HSBC
Recently, I've had a dispute taken place to both my accounts which are Lloyds and HSBC. Some person accused me of scamming him when providing him with a service, even though he received the service and I had a lot of evidence of me providing him with the service he paid for. (Note that while I was providing service to the…

Cashplus Business Bank Account
Hi there, I'm looking to see if anyone has experiance using the above for a limited company bank account. Are they any good? Main concern is protection. Is your money safe? As they are not a high street bank. Also, assume they have a 14 day cooling off period when you apply for an account? Does anyone know what the charges…

Banking closed
Really unsure whether this is the right thread as I am new, apologies in advance! I sold an item via Depop, got paid via bank transfer. The item in question was being sold on behalf of a friend, I accepted bank transfer payment and it then came to light that the item in question could not be sold. Due to lack of funds at…

Direct Debit for £1 a year - does it qualify?
Hi all I saw this website https://smalldirectdebit.co.uk offers direct debits for £1 a year. They claim that if I use it I will qualify for the interest and cashback on the Santander 123 account. Has anyone tried using direct debits which don't pay out monthly on the Santander account? What was your experience? I used it…

Virgin money merge with yorkshire bank
in July VM emailed me to say: If you have deposits (e.g. a savings or current account) with Virgin Money, then the following information is important to you. The FSCS protects individuals who have savings held in a UK bank account up to £85,000 per individual. This means that you can have up to £85,000 protected in your…

Closed Lloyds current account - how do I pay back small overdrawn amount incurred?
Over a month ago I switched current accounts from Lloyds to Monzo which closed my Lloyds account completely. I have recently found out that, due to some direct debits which came out of the Lloyds account during switching, I owe Lloyds about £40. However I have not been provided any instructions on how to repay this money.…

Metro Bank - £700 Transferred from Account
Hello, I am writing for some advice please on behalf of my partner who I feel has lost the will to live after this. My partner went into a Metro Branch over a month ago and asked them to transfer £700 from his Metro account to his Barclays account. A day later after checking, he realised the money wasn't in his Barclays…

refund to lost debit card
Sorry if this is a naive question. I purchased a small item from Amazon on the 2nd of Oct and it never got delivered, so I requested a refund, which will be sent back to my debit card soon. The problem is, I lost my debit card last week, and I requested a replacement - and this debit card obviously has a new card number.…

What's the Point of Financial Ombudsman?
I had a case with them a few months back in regards to Halifax choosing to close my ISA and charging me a fee worth more than the interest I earned because of early closure. Halifax thought that it didn't matter that they were the ones closing it and not me. I closed my bank account with Halifax and switched to HSBC…

Barclays merchant control not working
I played bingo on a gambling website at the weekend and I spent more than I thought. It’s actually the first time I’ve tried it and thought it’s too easy to spend money and a bit dangerous so I seen on my Barclays Bank app you can’t turn off payments to certain merchants including any gambling transactions. I went into the…

Activating new debit card
Apologies if this is a dumb question. I have recently opened a Nationwide FlexDirect account, for no other reason than to collect the interest. I have received my card and PIN, and as usual the letter that came with the card talks about activation. As I have no intention of making any purchases or ATM withdrawals from this…

Piles of bank statements!
Hi... I am not sure if this is the right area to post my question. I have piles of paper bank statements and credit cards statements. They are back to years ago. I always thought I need to have them to “prove my existence” in case something happens and to prove for example that in July 2009 I was here and here is my bank…
