Couple of bank switching questions
I'm looking to open the Halifax account that pays £100 and £5 a month, currently I am with NatWest. Ideally, I want to keep my NatWest account (linked to kids savings account) and phase things over to the Halifax one. I was wondering, can I open a new bank account with whoever and switch straight away? I could set up two…

Can having too many current accounts hammer my credit rating?
Hi all. Can having alot of current accounts open, lower my credit rating? I was thinking as there was the potential to use an overdraft as another line of credit, the more current accounts one has open, the bigger the negative impact this can have on a credit report.

Lloyds closed my accounts hard getting new one
Hi all, Having read the forums here on several matters I have finally summoned up the courage to join :-) On 25th June 2015 I had my accounts closed by Lloyds and a letter was sent out the same date. Power of Attorney Question
Hi, I recently registered my 92 year old BIL's POA with the OPG and the documents all came back last week. I phoned Santander to make an appointment to register the POA with them as my BIL is no longer able to conduct his financial affairs due to dementia. They have told me that although I can be added as a signatory on…

I have a friend who moved to Europe 20 years ago. He has no UK pension and no UK bank account but he needs the latter. He has no UK address of his own but he was born in England and lived and worked there for many years. Likewise his wife. Question: how can he/they open a UK bank account?

When to switch to a packaged current account?
The MSE advice on these accounts is pretty clear and rather obvious - the benefits offered have to worth more than the annual charges on the account. The question is when to make the switch? Bills for services that could be provided by the account benefits come at various points during the year - travel insurance at one…

PLEASE help me, historic grossly unfair bank charges, £180+per month
Hello, I know mine won't be a unique story but as I write this in a hotel room I actually feel disgusted and without wishing to sound over dramatic I feel quite violated by what I've found by going through my old bank statements. I have two accounts with lloyds, one since 2006 and one since 2009, neither have been out of…

Lloyds Bank Accounts
I have 2 possibly 3 Lloyds Bank Accounts from back in the days where it was possible to move money around and get 3% without the need of DD's.. Are they worth keeping open now, or is it better to put 2 DD's on the account and switch to another provider where they are paying the ££'s to switch? TIA

What happened to the FD ID request thread?
It seems the thread somebody posted about being asked for ID by FD has been deleted. Would be good to know why because I felt it was a good discussion, albeit with a somewhat irate FD customer.

Bank account fraud
My brother has just been on holiday to Mexico. A week in, he tried to use his card and was told it had been cancelled. He phones the bank in England and is informed he cancelled his card the other day at 10pm at night. Emergency cash of £60 was requested and issued to an atm in Coventry. He tells the bank he's in Mexico…

Moving money between accounts
I've been opening multiple accounts recently to take advantage of the increased interest. The thing that confuses me about how this works, is how you are supposed to move money into and out of the account. For example... I have a Santander account with a five figure sum in it and a TSB account with £2k in it. The TSB…
