Nationwide "Main Account"
Anyone know what criteria Nationwide use to designate an account as a "Main Account". Their Select Credit Card T&Cs says it only pays cashback to main accounts. The FlexPlus seems to have no minimum funding or debit debits.

Visa Debit and the Visa sign...
I have a Visa Debit card with Lloyds which is perfectly fine but I wondered, can I use it ANYWHERE a regular visa card can be used? I plan to do pay for a visa in the summer and I had bought a prepay mastercard for this purpose because the site showed Mastercard and Visa signs, but would the Visa debit card be accepted…

Halifax Reward Account - not accepting payments in
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas why my Halifax account (which I have had open since the start of February) has suddenly stopped accepting incoming payments from other banks? (I have attempted to make payments in from two different accounts with two completely different banks, both of which have been rejected).…

Barclays Current Account packs, are they any good?
My current account is with Barclays and there are a number of 'packs' that I can add onto my account which I have been considering, but I wanted to know whether they were worth it and was hoping someone could give some advice? I have just bought a MacBook Air for £929 (and a USB Superdrive for an extra £65 but I'm not…

Halifax Reward account, Am I too late to set up direct debits?
I have only just noticed that at least 2 direct debits have to be set up by 14th April on reward accounts or they will go back to ordinary accounts on May 2nd. Am I too late to set these up in time? Would setting up a direct debit be instant or take some time and have to be sent to me to sign? Also if I set up say a tesco…

natwest first reserve card
Natwest are issuing new cards for the first reserve account. 2 questions: 1. Are they only issuing a new card if you've used the card you currently own. 2. As they're issuing new cards in August, what happens to existing cards, that don't expire for couple years? Thanks

Going into the red with First Direct
I have a regular saver with them. I set up payments to land in my 1st account a day before payment is due on the regular saver. I would've sworn that i did this for March. Seemingly i didn't. Either that or it didn't work. Payment should've been taken 25th March. I only noticed this yesterday, so immediately funded it with…

Direct Debit Guarantee in case of dispute
Had a lovely chat at the bank. The bank initially refused to return direct debit payment. My point was that because it is a direct debit payment they should return money immediately and do not ask any questions. After about 2 minutes of arguing they agreed to return money but said that the organisation can refuse to return…

HSBC Basic Account / Debit Card
Got some good news for those people with a HSBC basic account. This account now comes with a visa debit card so no more restrictions to just using cash machines. I rang up to upgrade my account to a full account a couple of days ago and they told me I can now get a debit card (non-contactless) on my basic account. I…

Unused bank account - should I close it?
Hello, quick question. I have finally paid off an overdraft with Halifax (*hallelujah chorus*) and I'm wondering if there is any point leaving the account open, or more importantly any benefits to leaving it open/closing it in terms of credit ratings etc. No DDs or anything from it - for years the only transactions on it…

Returned Direct Debit
Hi all, Do you know if Barclay's report a returned direct debit to your credit file? I just had one returned due to my DD setting on my credit card being set to full rather than minimum. Stupid thing is I had paid the full balance a week before but due to the DD setting they then tried to take the full amount again but…

Advice about debit card transactions 'dropping off' ?
Hi, I paid my rent online, on Monday 1st April with my debit card. This is done through a company called Sage Pay. I didn't receive a confirmation email, so worried, I rang my bank, and they said an authorisation had been asked for, and I was given the authorisation code. I checked the bank this morning but the payment…

Rogue ATMs: cause(s) and redress?
For the first time in about 40 years of using cash machines, I experienced a rogue. It was a Lloyds TSB machine, but apparently they can all act up. It gave me back my card, then flashed 'sorry, service not available at present' (or some such), did not issue any money - but did debit my account (at the Co-op). This…

What steps can I take to get my money back?
I found someone on Facebook who seems legit (he's well known by many people on Facebook and YouTube) to do an engine conversion on my car. I got referred from someone on a car forum who already had his done with all the pictures and so on and it looks pretty good, he's converted a few people's cars now. Anyway I emailed…
