Some Praise For HSBC?
About 3 months ago I decided to change banks from Halifax as I went to pay a cheque in over the counter to be told my some snotty nose teller that I could not use the counter facilities any more due to only having a basic account with them and that I would need to use an automated machine instead. Now the reason I have a…

First Direct Account
My first post so be gentle! Just saw from Martin's email about this £100 offer. Can I ask whether people have tried getting this account? Also, the website says, income or salary - if I was to transfer money into this account, does that still qualify? Thanks guys!

Can A&L really do this to us???
Our mortgage goes out on the 3rd of every month - the same date Fiance's wages go in. As I have been off work sick and money has been a little tight we have been using our (tiny) buffer up from the joint account. Anyway although they should know by now - after a year with all debits and credits happening at the same time -…

Bank has put me in overdraft
Sorry if I am doing this incorrectly - first time user. My problem is that recently a direct debit appeared through my bank - as the overpayment credit I was expecting had not appeared there were insufficient funds to pay the direct debit. I rang the bank to confirm my assumption that the direct debit would therefore not…

Round in circles with Alliance and Leicester
Hello, hoping someone can offer advice before I lose my rag completely with A&L. It's a bit long-winded so bear with me. In March 2007 I applied to A&L to open a Premier Direct Account. This was refused. In Nov 2008 I successfully opened a Premier Account with A&L. In Jan this year I wrote a cheque to a company for £75. I…

I decided to open a second savings account this morning. Upon logging into my Halifax Web Saver account I was asked to verify my telephone numbers. As I only have 5 digits in mine, the system would not accept it. of course I had to call and wait while they called my home number 'to see if it worked' (like if I wouldn't…

Alliance & Leicester Premier Account/Quidco Question...
I see that on Quidco they're offering £50 if you open an Alliance and Leicester Premier current account. I could do with another current account so am thinking of opening one... I'm just wondering, is this one of those accounts that you have to pay for and is that why they're offering so much cashback? I can't see anything…

Benefit from incentives with several current accounts?
I wonder if someone can confirm the state of play with the following query. I currently have a halifax current account which i'm reasonably happy with but have just seen the first direct incentive of £100 to switch to them and then another £100 if you cancel your account after 6 months and before 12 months.
