Transaction went through twice
At the Ideal Home Show last Friday I paid for an item with Switch - the handheld machine hiccuped and the guy said he'd cancelled the first transaction and put it through again, but it's showing up in my online banking as going through twice. Do I contact the company or my bank to get it refunded?

Overdraft or balance transfer?
If you have an overdraft of £1500 in a current account, what is the best way to pay it off (i.e. lowest amount of interest payable)...assuming £50 can be paid off each month....? Balance transfer with a new credit card looks promising to me, but as paying only £50 off per month, it will go past any interest free period.…

Foreign spouse in the uk & bank accounts
Had a lot of trouble getting a current account sorted for my wife. Been with local branch of Lloyds for 20 years or so and due to money laundering regulations went through the hassle of repeated visits, taking in various documents for proof of ID, but each time a different service desk assistant was present, and…

Similar story with some standing orders. In…

Unfair Charges at Barclays - problem
I recently wrote to Barclays (twice) on behalf of myself and my partner. Turns out I've never had any charges and to prove it, the bank sent a print of the last six years' worth of activity, totalling a pile of A4 that measured two inches thick. However, for my partner, the bank simply sent a letter confirming £600 worth…
