Confused about benefits with agency work
Hi. I started receiving unemployment benefits a while ago whilst signed with an agency but not receiving work from them. A couple of weeks ago I got two overnight shifts - brilliant I thought, and jumped at the chance to get them. However, after this I realised that there's the cut-off point of 16 hours a week for claiming…

Renewed child tax credit via phone. on my usual pay day no money so rang the tax office to find that because I have renewed the date for my benefit would be days later(after the bank holiday). I was given no warning and the only excuse from the tax office was that their computer does this and they cant understand why. Big…

Tax credits saying I have overpayment
Basically, when I was made redundant in March, I was given 30 days PILON. The DWP disregrded this for IS purposes, but when I called the HMRC to inform them of my change in circumstances, they said I would be entitled to still claim WTC on the PILON and told me to call them back after 30 days - I asked them if this was…

HCP's opinion on the ESA50 by the DWP
This review, on the situation regarding ESA50 and the WCA from both the HCP and claimant perspective, carried out by the DWP, has been published: http://research.dwp.gov.uk/asd/asd5/rports2009-2010/rrep719.pdf It seems to acknowledge the problems and flaws, at least in part - let's hope the government take note of their…

Wrong timescales given for childcare element! (Worried...)
Hi all, I start back work on Tuesday from maternity leave and contacted tax credits to enquire about the childcare element. I was told by 3 seperate staff that it was a 'normal' change of circumstances and therefore as long as I gave the right registration code (which I did) then I would no longer than a week but was…

Will second property affect my tax credits?
Hi All, and thanks for reading. Basically to cut a long story short my mum is looking into putting my name on the title deeds to her house (solely) now to save tax issues for me later. My mum and her husband (both retired) would then live in the house rent free for the rest of their lives so I would not be earning income…

Can you help me see how this is fair
I just posted the following on the child support forum and then thought this might be the better forum as my question is benefit related really and not specifically child maintenance. I hope my post is appreciated for what it is. I'm not having a dig at PWC's or anything it's just that I don't see how the situation below…

Does CA affect CTC?
If you claim carers allowance, does your CTC go down the same amount (ie is it a waste of time claiming it?) My son gets HRC,LRM but it seems pointless claiming if your money drops the same amount. I receive IS and CTB, I know that the IS support is adjusted down but wasn't sure about the CTC.
