AND HEREWE GO AGAIN FOR ANOTHER MONTH! As usual this initial post has been shamelesslycopied from the many previous months! A big THANK YOU to Kiplingmonkeyfor starting us off last month.
Welcome all newbies andregulars to this very friendly and chatty thread where we give lots of lovelytips on how to use up your stash and lots of support and encouragement if youneed them.
Keep up the pampering and keepdown the spending: let’s make the naughty step an empty and lonely place this month(rather than one so long that it can be seen from space)! Will this be themonth when the "usual suspects" rein it in a bit? Let's see..... (butI doubt it!)
Remember - those products donothing for you while they are locked in drawers, boxes and cupboards!
We are eternally grateful to KatieClampet who set up this fab challenge in January 2010.
Here's her original challenge post:
"No buying any new toiletries, cosmetics, perfume etc... until I haveused up ALL the ones I already have. I got a huge amount of (really nice) stufffor christmas but I am going to resist the urge to browse Boots, Asda,Superdrug etc, and pop another tub of cream, face scrub, shampoo or conditionerinto my basket. I reckon the stuff I have will last me until possibly June. Ihave decided that the money I save I will put into my special holiday account.
Anyone else?"
Lots of us have taken part in thechallenge over the past few months and are making great progress in reducingour stashes and unnecessary/excessive spending.
Regulars ignore this, but a quick resume is always helpful for newbies;
Why not add the challenge to yoursig as a reminder?
We have a "Swaps Group" on Facebook when you can swap good conditionitems with other like-minded addicts. PM Sarah*a or xoxo or Trudijfor more info on joining.
How about taking a bit of time to do a stock-take and see if there are any gapsin your stash that you might need to spend on this month? Some of us set abudget for the month for essential purchases or to help with withdrawalsymptoms, others like to go cold-turkey!! Other ideas which some people finduseful: Listing everything out so you can cross things off as used to increasethe sense of achievement, and putting a sum of money in a pot each time you useup an item to save for something you really want, or simply to assist in makingfuture essential purchases "cash neutral".
Remember the challenge is about makingthe most of your money, enjoying your products, finding which products reallysuit you best and are worth buying, giving yourself a well-deserved pamperingand breaking the habit of buying for thesake of buying. In money-saving tradition, it should also be about making your products l-a-s-tas long as possible (although the temptation of using an unloved shower gelextravagently to finish it off is sometimes too much to bear!)
Brand new products (or opened perfume) sell well on ebay
Unsuitable products can be used for other jobs (shower gel/shampoo as handwashetc)
Some items can be returned to certain stores for exchange (for essential itemsor gifts!!) without a receipt
Unwanted items can be recycled as gifts or for gift hampers (saving the moneyyou'd have spent on gifts)
Unsuitable items can be donated to charity as mentioned earlier.
It helps to avoid the places where temptation lurks for you; be it QVC, Boots,Bodyshop, the supermarket toiletries aisles, grabbit board, online toiletriesbrowsing, seductive department store beauty counter offers etc. Rememberretailers are making offers and promotions all the time, so there willl alwaysbe another deal!*
*Honest!
Good luck all for November andindeed the rest of the year, and remember to keep popping in for inspirationand support, and to report your UU's and IN's.
Especially any sales bargains - we want a nosy and to keep your stash listsupdated

Thanks for the new thread sunshineyday.
I am of course in for another month of trying to be good. Ended Oct on a minus so that is good - am hoping for similar in November but have a lot of fairly new full sizes on the go so am not expecting a bumper month on the UU front.0 -

Hi ladies!
Here I am again...I've been here for *blushes and whispers* two years but I will not be a graduate and get to wear the mortar board of moisturisation for a while yet...
...but I would like to say that I am SO glad I joined this challenge when I did; I am moving into a flat on Friday, and although I still have a good drawer-and-a-bit's worth to take with me, I have much less to take with me than I would have had before. (I've also been doing the book/DVD challenge as well or else the walls of my abode would have exploded before now!) I have used up and given away simply tons of stuff and I am so glad of the extra space it has given me. Once I'm in my new flat, I will continue to use up my stash, and I will be delighted to see it diminish further...as I am planning on doing with all the things I don't actually need any more, no matter what they are. :T
Happy pampering in November, ladies! Please call me 'Pickle'

Thanks for starting us Sunshineyday.
Good luck in your new home Pickle! A friend of mine moves in just over a week, from a largish 2 bed bungalow to a 1 bed apartment - she is on a mammoth jettison plan.
I must look at re-homing books. I have ten bookshelves scattered around the house - I've given so many away too but Amazon keep offering me them...
I'm in again, UU's last month were quite slow as almost everything is large sizes, or a LHJ for another reason, the Lush Seanik shampoo for example. Lush weren't kidding when they said up to 100 washes with a solid shampoo, though when I've had others, (particularly Godiva and New) they didn't last nearly as long, even allowing for my longer hair then.
I have a large Avon body lotion arriving any day (should have been here by now; think the rep is perhaps waiting for most people's pay day.) I combined it with Christmas present buying to get 4 items for a fiver.
There was a mystery toiletries prize in the music club raffle last night. I actually won it, but as I'd already won a prize - a large block of white choc. that GS will get - I insisted it be redrawn. (Phew!)
It was duly won by somebody else who'd already won and she didn't want it either - but I think she took it eventually... It was shampoo or shower gel I believe.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Thanks for starting us off again sunshinyday. I am back in for November.
There seems to be some rather good luck about just now with the raffle prize wins ladies. I will join in on the next raffle I see (just in case it has rubbed off on me too!) Very kind of you And to put the second prize back in for someone else to win. A few weeks ago I was at a charity night in a comedy club and this same woman won 7 of the prizes and took every one of them. The next comedian on stage then singled her out and said "you can have handed them back...just saying". He got a lot of cheers for that comment. I couldn't have had the brass neck to take all of them home.
Pickle - hope the move goes swiftly and smoothly.
Belated Happy Birthday Seaside Dreamer - Hope you had a lovely day. I can't wait to read the INs
I have been out today and purchased two mags and now have on the Nails Inc polish in the midnight blue (which I am loving) and the Benefit tint thingy (which I have been wanting to try for a while).
So my plan for this month is to make it four months without any buying any non essentail items. In having a quick thing, nothing is springing to mind that I will need this month except another can of dry shampoo.
I also want to UU another perfume, so will target a small 10ml size one.No buying toiletries Graduated May 2017Decluttered 2016 2469 items, 2017 1580 items :j2018 3060 itemsSealed Pot Challenge No 0380 -
Thanks for starting us off! I'm in for November
Really hoping to make some serious inroads this month!0 -
Thanks sunshineday for starting new thread. I am back in although I've pretty much graduated in all areas except shower gels of which I still have tonnes to get through.
November is going to be a costly month as it is re: purchasing "necessary" items so will try and be extra vigilant at trying to ignore all the offers that are coming around.
I need to buy :-
Elemis Lime Blossom cleanser and Elemis sensitive shave gel for MrM
LE Skin Repair Moisturiser which I usually use as night cream but will use as a day cream when my 15ml tube of PCMC has gone up until Christmas when I know Santa will deliver 2 new pots of PCMC.
C&P for Emma and IBST. Am intending to order these direct from LE. So I'll get the essentials kit with a free body lotion (love this still) and will get MrM his usual Christmas stock of Mens Body Wash (this smells divine). Am intending to make the order up to £70.00 to get the free gift which I'm going to do by ordering a travel size of the Brightening mask. I'm then going to swap this with the Superskin balm in the free gift and give this pack to emma as a stocking filler ready for her trip away with school next year.
We're also getting low on liquid soap but I'm going to try and eek this out until next month.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Debt Free by Jan 20130 -
I'm in again. Didn't do very well in October. I haven't counted but I am pretty sure I had more ins than outs.
Can't think of anything I actually need for a while so will try to be good. I will also try to count the ins and outs as that might shock me into not buying. May give in if I see any good magazine freebies but will try not to otherwise.3 stone down, 3 more to go0
