Please see earlier thread "Secured Loan Hell"

After reading many many posts i have had an epiphany and taken charge of my debt, and my aim is now to be clear of it in less than 10 years by following the advice of others who have gone through debt hell before me and left their wisdom here.

So today is day one on that path, i obtained the exact amount i owe, which was very scary!!

I aim to make my full payment every month and every time i get a £100 i will pay that off too that way i should nibble away at it.The better i get at this the more i should be able to nibble away.
I can afford to make a payment of £260, but the full payment is £480 so i need to find an extra £220 a month by various methods.

i will post every month to show how i got on and how i managed it.(or not!)

So here goes......................

July 2013 made 11th full payment of £491 to loan, Hooray!!!!!! B XX

Its September 2012 and my first day on my debt free path

From this month i will attempt to always have 100 items listed on ebay ([STRIKE]63 [/STRIKE]66 listed atm) listing during free listing weekends

I have joined Quidco, Swagbucks and Clickworker today using the referral links so others can benefit too.

I have referred friends to Swagbucks so i receive the same amount as they do if they win anything.

I am going to put all DVDs and CDs on Music Magpie this weekend coming.

I have politely asked that all gifts be financial.

i have looked at all coupons expiry dates and put in order so i can use appropriately

I have checked benefits to ensure i was not missing out

I have sent off two PPI claims , you never know!!

I have started a Soft Furnishings Course (a big step for me as I am bipolar and dont cope well with lots of people around me) but i hope to use skills to make and sell things on ebay.

If anyone can think of anything else please do let me know as i am determined to succeed

    Thanks for reading
    xxx

Thanks for the support and advice
Its great not to feel alone in the struggle
With that in mind if any one else is starting out please get in touch, maybe we could bounce ideas off each other, i have so many my brain is about to explode lol

I spent this morning answering surveys and learning how to use swagbucks site, i have 150 points already which i thought was quite good till i looked at rewards lol still everything is beter than nothing

I have dug out four old mobile phones to flog too and found three more items for ebay which i listed earler taking my ebay total to 66 items listed.

My daughter (3 yrs old) is in nursery tomorrow all day and my son (15 yrs old) is back at school from today so I am going to use the time to do the assessments on clickworker.

I have never used music magpie any ideas how much cds usually go for on there or does it depend?

  • Hi dimples and welcome to the boards :) good luck in your journey, im not new to the road of negative wealth pay off but i wanted to say your number may feel like a mountain now but it will soon be a mole hill :), when we had our lbm we owed £77k :O that was in 2008 and it was a cold hard shock and mighty wake up call, since then we have paid off just short of 37k and now owe 40kish and yes its been a struggle but i managed to meet all my monthly commitments to dont give up hope this mountain will be conqured :) xxx

  • I haven't used music magpie for CDs but I sold a lot of my daughter's DVDs earlier in the summer. Most only made about 30p but a couple made £3. I didn't mind as it was easy and convenient though the money didn't come through very quickly. The main thing was I managed to have a bit of a clear out and my daughter made about £20 to put towards her mobile phone fund so she was happy! I like the way you can scan in the barcode of what you are trying to sell on music magpie as you know what you are going to make providing your item is in good condition.

If you can eBay your CDs you might make more money though it would be more time consuming. You could always use music magpie to sell anything you can't get rid of on eBay.

    Hope this helps!
  • Music Magpie tends to offer very low trade in prices because they then go on to sell the CDs and DVDs on Amazon.

It's very easy to set up an Amazon seller account and you don't need photos and long descriptions like ebay, just the barcode or IBSN for books and a description of the condition.

Check out this link for price comparison of a few items from last year:

I have to second what unimaginative user name says about music magpie, I sent some stuff off a few weeks ago and am still waiting for the cheque! There is another site that does a similar thing which sent the money through asap so it may be worth looking around..
Good luck with your debt free journey, you come across as really driven to tackle it and I hope it goes well for you!:)
