Not allowed to link to that siteOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

It's not that long ago that they made life difficult for Herbie when all she was trying to do was help people. Her posts were moderated and had to be reviewed by a mod before being published and this would sometimes take hours.
CAG has become a business and you can see that by looking at their forum and see CAG is owned by Reclaim the Right Ltd. They have links to all sorts of stuff (apart from sites that might give useful advice) and are no doubt generating a fair amount of cash.
I wonder how much Mr Gander has made out of CAG since it was launched back in 2005-6."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

If CAG are a business why are they asking for donations? What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

It's all here in their forum rules:-

8.3 Links to non-commercial and free advice sites are permitted, provided they are not posted by the owners of the site concerned, and that there is no direct financial gain involved with the recommendation.
So why are they blocking links to this site and to PePiPoo? I would have thought that both sites fall under the above definition? What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Good spot Trisontana! So putting a link to MSE Forums and Pepipoo is not actually breach of their rules as long as you are not the site owner or benefitting financially."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Ive just sort of been banned from CAG, my first red mark was posting a direct link to both here and the parking forum begining with a P ( is that a swear word in some places? ) at the time i couldnt understand what was going on, as i thought i had edited something out, so i reposted and changed the link to just mentioning the names.
after recieveng a PM telling me to read the forum rules, quoted below.....Your posts which contain external links have been edited or unapproved.
Please see site rules regarding links to external sites.

however upion reading the rules very carefuly, they didnt ( and as far as i know still dont) mention anything about refering people to other sites for advice to back up what there being told on one forum.
the only thing it appeared to mention was the usual rules about copyright, and linking to prornographic/inappropiate websites.
Unless ive missed something Money saving experts, Pepipoo (oops said it) and the BBC dont appear to be signifcant players in the pornographic industry
I then received another message sayng thisContinued Link PostingHi
You have been advised on more than on occasion this evening regarding posting links to external sites, these notifications have been sent to you by PM from the site team.
Links or other directs to external sites can be dangerous as there is no way of verifying information provided there and CAG cannot be seen to recommend external advice.
This is why your posts have been either edited or removed.
Following these notices, you continued to post in the same vein and even in your response in open forum, you still inserted these links.
As a result I have now placed a restriction on your account and have put your account on moderation for a period of 7 days.

According to this mod, ims21, they will not allow any one to mention third party links, or websites.
Which if correct, to all intents an purposes makes the CAG as an advice forum as much use as a chocolate fire guard.
however non of this is mentioned in the forum rules, and if you read them carefuly the opposite is true, see their forum rules 1.2 through to 1.5
1.2 Please be aware that all advice on this website is provided informally by concerned volunteers.
1.3 The Group holds out no particular expertise or qualification.
1.4 The Group is not responsible for the views or actions of its users who post on this website.
1.5 The Group makes no guarantee of the accuracy of any of the advice or information which is provided on these pages and you are advised to apply your own judgment at all times or contact a qualified professional.
and rules 3.x onwards.
at some point i will be trying to contact someone on CAG, as i beleive that the moderator ims21 has overstepped the mark somewhat, as no forum rules have been breached or broken.

All the CAG mods do that, not just him. I can't recall who sent me pm's saying that I couldn't post links to here or pepipoo.
I agreed with you ''According to this mod, ims21, they will not allow any one to mention third party links, or websites. Which if correct, to all intents an purposes makes the CAG as an advice forum as much use as a chocolate fire guard.''

Good luck with that but don't hold your breath as they will back the moderator to the hilt, even though it is clear you have not broken the site rules."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Is there an address to complain to? as if its supposed to be a consumer forum, actions such as that will not be helping at all.
making up rules as you go along will not be helpful at all, and there about as much use as making an abitary charge up for having a car tyre slightly over the white line ( as the car next to you didnt leave much room either)From the Plain Language Commission:
