Sky putting prices up £3 thats insulting. We need some real competition for Sky because there prices are just a joke now. They go up at least £1 every year and £3 increase (when the economy is in the state its in & a tory + LD government) when people are trying to save money, i think will cost them a lot of business.
When my £3 a month Sky Sports runs out i will remove the sports from the package0 -
Seriously Sky, are you kidding me?!
You want to punish BT for jeopardizing your current choke hold on football, so you put the price up for all your subscribers?!
Thankfully I got rid of our sports packaging when the football season finished, and after reading this I will not be getting it back. Not only that, I will be coming to the end of my contract soon and I shall not be renewing.
I used to be happy paying what I did, because you do get your moneys worth, but each year they put it up and now this is the final straw for me!0 -
Sky's costs are not falling for their own customers but going up according to your report.
It's so typical of Sky to hammer their own. They're very good at making special offers to new customers but give nothing to those who have been with them for years. A £3 hike in one swoop is mega even by their standards.
No wonder Murdoch wants to buy the whole company. It becomes a licence to print money.0 -

lol i dont think ive ever seen the call centre so busy!!!0 -
The £6.99 package is a bit of a joke anyway. It's for one channel. If you get SS1 you'd soon realise that half of what you want just happens to be on SS2 and vice versa.
I have Sky Sports for rugby league rather than football. Given one of the weekly matches is generally on SS3 or SS4, the BT packages are in one legged man / a*se kicking contest territory.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -
anyone thought of how crap the quality might be on the BT platform?0

bunking off: the 16.99 is for skysports 1+2 and espn
bt have not got the rights for the other channels and have purchased two freeview channels to use as there platform for the time being, the quality is just the same as digital tv today
bt recently recieved the contract to upgrade all digital areas to hd digital before the next world cup from the gov, which would also tie in with serving hd service for the future , there is also talk of enabling the next gen boxs to be able to connect to freesat dishes, sky dishes ect0 -

Yes, I can read.
My comment was aimed at the headline in the article;
The cost of watching live Premier League football for armchair fans was slashed to just £6.99 a month today after BT announced prices for viewing Sky Sports.
As I don't watch football, I can't honestly say how the matches are distributed across the channels, but if football is like rugby, anyone buying a single channel will be sorely disappointed. I would hope that the £6.99 package for a 2 yr/1 channel subscription at least allows you to upgrade to the 2 channel package (I'd have thought so), otherwise you'll be sorely disappointed and locked into an unsuitable package.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -

Yep upgrades are available on all types off contracts, but on the 2yr contracts there is no downgrades0 -

Premier League football is on Sky Sports 1, while Championship and Champions League is normally on SS2.
With BT you can get both plus ESPN for £11.99/mth on the 2 yr contractFormer MSE team member0
