Warning Delivery Reports Orange
Options
Hi everybody,
I'm not sure if this a common thing but im proper shocked about this. (Sorry i write how i speak and im from Birmingham LOL)
Anyway i was looking at my Orange bill and they've charged me a 1p for each delivery report i've recieved. I can't believe it. This may sound petty, so let me do a little arithmatic. I have unlimited text messages and I text ALOT.
So on a month I send about 2000 Text messages.
So thats £20.00 a month. On an 18 month contract thats, £360!!!
My monthly contract is £25, so thats 80% more compared to the price of the contract, just to let me know that my message has arrived.
When questioned the man at orange even told me, it's only orange that do this, other networks don't charge, but he cannot refund them as its written into the contracts terms and conditions.
I just thought i would let everyone know, especially in these times.
P.S. any body got any advice?
Regards JP

I'm pretty surprised that Orange charge for these, however i guess it was only a matter of time.
Surely you don't need a delivery report for every text message you send, so you could switch off the delivery report request in your phone and avoid the charges.
I suppose it's worth pointing out that at least with Orange you have an option for automatic delivery reports, with o2 they're not automatic. My farts hospitalize small children0 -

Reclaiming? I bet somewhere or at some point Orange have in there contract that they will charge or reserve the right too. They're pretty cute with this sort of thing, despite the fact that they won't have it in huge bold writing somewhere. My farts hospitalize small children0 -
Think it's been ongoing as far back as March 2006, sorry I can't offer any more help.0

yeah, i don't use them anymore. I only used them because i was under the impression they were free.
Cheeky Cheeky Orange. I might start billing them for my time
Hahaha JP0 -
This would explain why my bill has increased by approx £15 for the past three months - have you ever been notified about the charge being introduced? I'm not aware that I have.
I can't access my online bill, always get an error message. Convenient for them!Gone ... or have I?0 -
Nope, i was never notified, i might just write a letter. I've done a module of Business Law at university so i might dig out my book and see whats i can do. I'm sure that cost is unreasonable, for what i get, i.e. they are making super abnormal profits on an unnecessary service. The cost of a report is negligble as a unit cost to the cost of the message sent, which is surely ofset against the money that i pay by monthly direct debit.
Or something to that effect. JP0
