    Im a taxi driver, After paying for car etc I clear on average £350/400 a week, Although it is 60hr week so works out low hourly wage. On the other hand I suit myself and some days can be VERY good. Best week ive had was £920 take home on 60hrs BUT I did get some good jobs

    Was working a 25 hour week on 27K (pro rata for local Government) :(
    Just got a new job (in Jan) £34K full time as Training Manager in London

    Have privately taught music lessons for 5 years, which makes approx 6.5k a year.. but due to the new job/long hours.. I'm stopping this so I can have my weekends back! Yay!

    Was looking for a new job for over 3 months.. don't give up people.. It will happen !

    supermarket night shift 5 nights a week, on pricing. comes out at about £16,100 a year i think before overtime etc
    £18 for my old mobile.
    new proper meal planning to cut spending.

    Are you not "self employed" ?

    [So will the tax man be getting 20% + NI on a chunk of that £920?]
    why? there are lots of people here on minimum wage. don't be embarrassed:)

    and some self employed on probably considerably less, with none of the normal protections and holidays that employees get.

    I'm finding this thread very interesting.

    Is anyone here a librarian/library assistant? How much do you earn?

    I work 33 hours a week in a public library and earn just under £15,000 a year.

    I'm a highway lighting operative grade 4 (Street light maintenance) On job training and have the ranks to climb hopefully. Dependant on local council contract being awarded to my firm etc.

    37 hours/week £15,700 3% pension payments are matched by the firm 22 days holiday
    Baby daughter born 13.2.10 :j 6lb 11.5oz

    Aircraft engineering technician- royal navy. £18k plus health benefits and 38 days leave per year with all the !!!! trips you can imagine! potential promotion next year to £27k. Fingers crossed!
