Hi All

Following on from the 2015 thread of the same name this thread renews the challenge for 2016. To read what we got up to this year go here

I'm guessing most people know that wombling refers to making use of things you find for financial gain. Examples could be receipts that you have added onto your loyalty cards for your own gain. Some I find are: unclaimed Nectar points, Tesco club cards points, Toys R Us gold card points, Costa card points, mcdonalds cups with the bean sticker still on (collect 6 for a free coffee) also price promise reciepts for tesco & brand match coupons for sainsburys which are better than roadkill as many are over a £1.

My total for 2015 was £1027.20 Not a bad number but I'd like to do even better this year.

I am going to keep track from Jan 1st on the value I find in the main categories & may zero sum them from the relevant budgets.

My aim for 2016 is every time I leave my house to try & find one item that makes my life cheaper!!

    Brilliant to see new faces and regulars :) I should make it clear that it's up to each of you to decide how to assign a value to the things you find. Some things are obvious like a brand match voucher but being given something or finding something may make it more obscure. So that bits your call. And we are keeping our own scores for that reason :)

    You can always try non shop based wombling like looking for roadkill or items left out by people who don't want them. I found our hoover that way.

    This sounds interesting... I always thought this just referred to the vouchers and things people find in shops but am I correct in thinking that if someone gives you something that you yourself would have bought then this would also count through out the year? i.e. a piece of furniture, books, food/bottles of drink and stuff like that?

    Sorry if I'm sounding a bit silly but not really familiar with this thread yet. I only ask as I have an aunt who never lets me leave her house without some sort of food item and I figure I should start tallying it up to see how much money I save each year on potatoes and loafs of bread etc :rotfl:
