I too want to know what TCO means. So many acronyms in this community to get used to!
Introducing myself to the thread. This month my girlfriend and I are trying to see how much we spend in September. Already it's close to £10/day (that's just food) and we've been trying to be a bit more careful than usual as it is :eek: However this is supposed to be a month where we see where our money is going, and then start to think of things we can do to reduced it. It's going to have to be gradual as we are really not used to planning our meals, cooking ourselves, taking trips to cheaper stores. Our local shops are a Waitro$e (what is the deal with supermarket stores being changed by everyone? legal thing for the forum?) and a co$t cutter, which is just as expensive. We don't drive, but we share a bicycle. I'm thinking of taking a trip to Mr T's tomorrow and looking for cheap things.
Meanwhile I think I'm going to try making some homemade stuff. We have sweet tooths so I want to make a cake this week. Thanks Florenceem for posting your meals, gives me some ideas!Extra money made jun 19: £16.07

Ooh thanks for this. I try not to use my tumble dryer more than I need to & these could really help out. Will have a look if they still have them tomorrow.CountingPennies wrote: »Also, tried tesco value beans and sausages, oh my god they were beautiful! I seriously couldn't believe it. I buy Heinz because i love them and they ideal for a quick meal when i get in on a night from work but I think they are really expensive. Anyway, tried them and I seriously can't believe how nice they are. I tend to buy them when they are 3 tins for £2.50 so the fact that these ones are just 30odd pence a tin is fab!
We always have Tesco value baked beans. Like you say, for the price. My brother lives is USA & on one particular visit, he asked my Mum if she could bring over some baked beans. Before they set off, my Mum spoke to my brother on the phone & told him she had the beans, Heinz beans. My brother informed her he only wanted Tesco Value! She was too embarrassed to take the Heinz ones back & say she meant to buy Value 7 so she went back & bought those too! :rotfl:2017 GC O-£93.46/£160; S-£136.26/£160; A-£130.55/£160; J-£47.12/£160;

Hairy Bik*rs stuffed pork recipe was gorgeous and enough left for another meal so went straight in freezer when cold to remove temptation to nibble. :rotfl:
Oxtail stew in fridge so easy to take off fat for tomorrow's tea with mash and veggies.
I am right to assume that we include all our shopping for the house such as toilet rolls and washing stuff ??

Welcome :wave:
Yes to stop them having free advertising - they would get more google hits/more popular with google if we mentioned them all the time without deliberately spelling their names wrong. I don't really understand these things but I know that big companies have in the past manipulated their websites so that they are able to get more hits when people search for them on google.
Ahh TCO - Terry$ choc 0range ! makes sense now :rotfl:
so for lunch I'm taking a tin of tuna, a packet of melba toast and a bit of cheese (cheese is looking rather sad and needs eating up soon). This should mean I stay out the shops but I might get a fruit pot today if the shop has any.0 -
