'Hung himself by promising Trident will be gone quickly'
Not sure how that is 'hanging himself', it's a negotiating position.
It could have been a great one, but by promising it will be gone in the first term of an independent Scottish parliament he is fighting with one arm tied behind his back.0 -

Someone please change the thread title. It's embarrassing.0

I don't get all this 'Independence' lark.
If we vote yes,we will have the £ (well if you believe Alex Salmond) and we'll still have the Queen as Head of State.
So what's the point of going Independent?
We'll be reliant on a foreign power for fiscal policy (now lets think where that's working ........nope can't think of one!)
Of course when it all goes pear shaped and poor old Alex can't deliver the golden calf who's he going to blame??0 -

As for Trident, it will take a while to move it which I also fully accept. Key thing is we stop paying £250 million a year on it and re-direct the cash to the NHS/Schools/Public Services.
Will be nice to be able to control our own economy.
Oh for goodness sake just listen to yourself.
Who do you think controls the budget of schools, NHS now?
Or are all those SMPs in Edinburgh just playing politicians like we used to play shop when we were children?0 -

Of course its about personalities as well...you don't think politicians are chosen for their policy making ideas do you??0 -
Well that was a fun walk home from work...........
1. To show solidarity with the "little people" who have YES stickers etc on their cars - Bitter Together plastered a LIMO in No signs and parked outside the YES shop. Umm unclear on the concept anyone?
2. A counter argument is not to shout Fascist at people who don't agree with you
3. A leaflet that just says SNP - Lies is NOT conducive to a debate
4. When the Bitter Together chap starts spitting serious venom at you replying with "Aww son I feel sorry for you since you seem to be so full of hate" and a wee smile makes him go a funny sort of puce colour0 -

Would be nice if anyone was able to control any economy.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

The vote is gone, but I will respond anyway because you seem to like throwing insults around ("just listen to yourself").
Our overall budget is controlled by Westminster. We decide where we spend it.
My point was, in my view, a fair one. Re-directing cash from Trident would make a positive difference to people's lives in this country.
Now that we have decided against independence though I will be directing all my efforts towards campaigning for a Nuclear free UK with a Proportional voting system, with a less agressive foreign policy which includes not selling arms to Israel.
Am I dreaming? Probably:D
Drastic change required, let's hope we see it.0
