Will have a peek at that thank you xx

For the next lady that posted - who asked about paint for the chair - I used Farrow and Ball in Dimity x
  • Just wanted to say thankyou for all your inspiring pictures and posts . My house is looking more shabby than chic at the moment and I now have the knowledge to update most of my furniture. I sanded down a once lovely pine cupboard of my nan's months ago, but have been at a loss as what to do with it. I will take photos of it and let you know how I get on.
Once again thankyou for the inspiration

Twas a link to a Bosch Paint sprayer, £55. But worth it if you don't want to buy cans & cans of spray paint.

JML do one too, you would have to googl it.

Sorry, but this part of your post really made me :D

:o Such a lovely thing to say, thank you. I had a good haul at the jumble sales yesterday, will put some pics on my blog later on. I really need to get my bum in gear a la annie-c and get my sideboard undercoated...the only excuse I've had so far is not having found the right screwdriver to take the doors off

HeHe, glad it made you smile :D I thought after posting and re-read it that it was going to come over a bit odd :rotfl:
I will have a look on your blog later when I have got rid of the gang to work and school :D
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

Just got round to taking photos of some bits I have done recently.
Plain slate coasters from Poundland (£1 for 4) painted with acrylic as I have given up on finding some that I like and that were cheap.

Key cabinet - 50p from local Jumble Sale. It was plain untreated pine. I have been on the lookout for one of these for yonks so I was so happy with this.

I finally made my cushions for the lounge - I put these on the sewing thread too but thought they were SC too so sorry for the duplication!

Personally, I like the odd piece of distressed furniture. I don't tend to paint a colour underneath, I either sand back to the original wood after I've painted it (think about areas it would naturally get worn and distress there - ie. edges, keyholes) or I apply a glaze and wipe it off again. Painting a colour underneath does work well though, and would look fantastic with a bright 'pop' of colour showing through in places. None of my furniture is 'perfect white' (although I think that looks great, it's not for me with an OH who likes to spill coffee everywhere!!) - I tend to use F&B paints in muted creams, greys and pastel colours against a plain wall. I think the key for me is just having a play - you can always re-paint something if you don't like it once you're done!

Having read this, I was looking at Country Living (or may have been Homes and Gardens) at the hairdresser. There was a picture of a distressed cupboard in white with green bits showing at the edges, set againts a lovely white with green leaf wallpaper. It looked really fab.
