Csarina, I have just read your blog. I am so glad everything went as well as it could. I have been thinking about you all morning.
Please take comfort from the fact that you were in the thoughts and hearts of so many people.
Hugs

The funeral is over, and we now have to get on with life. It all went well, my ex had spoken to oldest son, so all was very quiet and relaxed.
There is a full report on my blog for anyone who want to read it.
I was, as my husband put it, my usual dignified self, it was what Nick would have expected.
Now we have to learn to live without him, it will not be easy but we will do it.0 -
Afternoon all,
Csarina I am really glad you were able to say your goodbyes to your DS Nick in a dignified funeral.Big big hugs xx
Not done much today really, more discussion with the structual engineer who is in charge over the job after the flood and subsequent landslide. He seems a genuine guy who wants to do the best for the residents of the cottages, but of course it all comes down to the budget given to him,we shall see.
I started volunteering yesterday at a school fairly close- a former colleague works there now and has 'recruited ' me,it was good fun as its the Reception class which was where I used to work.
Anyway better wind up as DGD has just arrived and no doubt will want some tea, options are bacon butties or turkey from the freezer.
Have a good evening xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Csarina (((HUGS))) Nick will always live on in your heart, dear friend. x
Looking at today's header....:eek::eek: PLEASE tell me it's not really 8th December? I can't go through the last month again!pollyanna_26 wrote: »LW - Im just having a quick skim through ,I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this previously but have you asked for a home assessment ? my daughter is unable to cope either anxiety or mobility wise with formal assessments . Since she was granted dla 15 years ago we have always asked for a home visit . She was reassessed for esa in october and we included masses of medical history and a full list of her 12 meds from our gp . She recieved a letter 3 weeks later confirming renewal of her award and still in the support group . We have always done this and she has never had to have a face to face assessment or home visit . Sorry if you have already tried to get a home visit but thought it worth posting just in case . Wishing you good luck .The farrier is coming to do Bill's feet, he goes barefoot as has very healthy hooves but the farrier reckons he can shape the hoof to help with his arthritis, am lucky to have such expert help.Miss Molly is now in her third year and doesn't want to become an adult - as she calls it!If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Csarina, so glad that things were quiet and peaceful for Nick today, it will be difficult for you, but be sure of our love and support.....you are stronger than you think.
Its been rather a nice day here, spent quite a while on the phone this morning as part of my January wish to contact people I havent been in touch with for ages, then I had a call from an Australian cousin whose son and family are visiting next week on their way home from Christmas in Scotland. The sun has gone now and its getting cooler, so probably be frost later.
Dinner is duck breast with as many vegetables as I can cram together, am trying to get to 8 or nine veg per day as nothing seems to shift the weight and allegedly vegetables work....if you get my drift.
Ruby....hugs.
Cranky......for my son and his family the advantages of living in such a lovely place outweigh the disadvantages......probably the same for your sister.
Thankfully, my car tax disc arrived in the post this morning, only out since end of December, but failure to display can result in a hefty fine......so am now legal again, if €270 poorer.
Had better crack on with dinner, feeling hungry.
Stay safe and well everybody.

Well done Csarina - it can't have been easy but it seems that sense prevailed in other members of the family. I'm glad it passed peacefully. Can't see your blog.
Yesterday I went to visit my nearest neighbour whose son died so tragically in November. I was really mindful about not sending a Christmas card or New Year greetings but really wanted to 'break the ice' in a conversation and not have the awkward moment. I took a small bunch of flowers and was very pleased at the outcome. Her husband came to the door and we chatted for about 10 minutes, think he appreciated the gesture.
Death in all it's forms brings problems all round. I can recall so well being upset that when my father died my mother got all the flowers and cards - they had been divorced yoinks before - whilst I didn't. It's a mind trap!
Anyway, my day has been fine. Posted off the currency to a friend, re-arranged some of the contents of the freezer and lit the woodburner. Nothing much else!0 -
Csarina - am pleased to hear that the funeral was as you wished it to be, be gentle with yourself and cleave to loved ones.
LW - Bill's farrier is a very gentle, softly spoken guy so will ask re your feet :rotfl: one thing my vet suggested was green-lipped mussels as a supplement to help his arthritis, apparently quite a lot of research has been done into their benefits. The only problem is the obvious fishy taste, for the first couple of days I was squashing them into bits of apple but he is used to them now.
Will give him your hug tomorrow x0 -
Lainey two of my canine friends take green-lipped mussel for their joints.
Jessie (Black Labrador) was born with dodgy legs, and she has hers as a chewy bar at breakfast time; she's as active as a large, heavy-set Labrador can be, so they must be helping.
Bailey (Border Collie) takes his as a tablet twice daily in his food; and since he's had this, I've noticed a great improvement in him, he's moving much more fluidly iyswim, and joining in more with the ball games with his partner-in-mischief Cassie. Because I only see them occasionally, it was very noticeable to me how much better he was.
Based on this, I'm certain Bill will benefit.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
