Nearly Happy New Year!
OK I may have sworn that my last diary would be my last DFW diary but I REALLY mean it this time.
I have a thing with wanting fresh starts for a new years...decs coming down on xmas eve, a new diary on mse...catch my drift!
I am 29 (30 in may:eek:) and I live in North Devon with my hubby and 2 daughters aged 10 and 8. Hubby and I have been together for 12 years and am just about getting on track with money since I started working full time with a much better wage.
Right down to the important bits....We WILL be debt free in 2014. I am not sure exactly when. I am hoping by July but it depends on the obstacles that are thrown in our way. Then it will be saving for a house deposit!
I was hoping for a frugal January but it isn't quite shaping up that way. Hubby's birthday, my Aunts 50th and Nan's 70th plus normal birthdays for my Grandad and Step Dad mean a lot of present money is needed. Plus we have already committed to 2 meals out this month for celebrate the two big birthdays. I have also be invited to London for my Nan's 70th present which will need to be paid for now and then the trip will be in March. While part of me wants to say no and save the money. Part of me thinks I would regret this opportunity to spend a great couple of days with my Nan, Mum and two Aunts as it wouldn't come up again.
We have set ourselves back a bit as we have ordered sofas to the value of £900 so that needs to be cleared. I will get on to that and let hubby throw money at his cards.
Me and the kids got our hair cut with some Christmas money so I have added the £10 from the budget to our birthday present money this month. Every little helps.
Plus I get 13 payments a year of £134 child benefit so one of these few months I can include that amount twice in my budget. So I think January would be a good month to use it as it will nearly pay for Hubby's main birthday present which will help with this months budget.
Another expense was £30 for a bulb for my tortoise table. My poor little man has been cold as the bulb went over Christmas. It has a one year warranty but I can't wait for that to be sorted so I will claim after this one arrives and then hopefully have a spare bulb. Sherman only eats weeds so he isn't a costly pet so I don't begrudge him a £30 bulb!
Second part to my diary will be losing weight and feeling better about myself as well as decluttering my house which I do every January. I really want to feel better about myself before I turn 30 as I feel horrid.
I also have my 101 things to do in 1001 days challenge which I will get moving with shortly!
I hope everyone has a fab evening

Hiya OF
Nice to see someone from the South West here. I used to live in Barnstaple for a while in my teens, but moved back to Cornwall after a relationship broke down.
I have an expensive 2014 planned, as i want to move house. I currently rent from the council but i am going to rent privately due to terribly noisy/violent neighbours.
The move will mean that my rent will double, so i need to get more hours at work.
Anyway, looking forward to reading more, have subscribed0 -

Hi OF!!
Happy New Diary! I am toying with the idea of doing a 2014 diary myself, I may get round to it I will see! I have subscribed to this one too as I enjoyed keeping up with you on your old diary.
I like the plans you have made, and the list of things to do to increase income. Your SOA has inspired me to maybe do ours, I have NEVER done one with both our incomes, so I really should do it just to see where we are.... but its scarey!
Hope you had a great festive season, and I'll look forward to keeping up to date with your debt busting - here's to a debt free 2014!!
