I got rid of my accrued points as of the last article, other than driving through the streets with a megaphone telling people to spend their points this has been the first administration where there's been genuine prior warning.

I think more people were caught out if they had loads to spend, did so, and took it in credit/gift cards that they didn't re-spend straight away before leaving the shop, or kids under 16 that wouldn't have been issued Reward cards, where you can earn but not spend until the administration is over one way or another. If there's total liqudiation then yes the Reward points will have gone for good.

In my local town game have shut but gamestation are still open, i overheard the staff saying they still take trade-ins but only for "store credit", not for cash

Is store credit the same as loyalty points?

They couldn't update loyalty points either as the system was down and customers buying games had to have their details recorded to be added at some stage later

No it's not the same and whatever they give you on store credit, spend it right there in the shop.

If they can't add Reward card loyalty points I personally wouldn't shop at that particular surviving store, if their own Facebook statement said you could earn them but not spend them. Up to you if you want to save and scan your receipts and see if any new owners will let you have them.

My son has been saving his trade in points and birthday and Christmas gift vouchers for some time. He has £200 worth and was going to buy himself a PS vita next month when his pocket money would have topped up the balance.

He's gutted, but I guess it's a lesson learnt. I can't see any buyer honouring the points and gift cards now. :(

Something should be done to protect people against companys going bust, remaining open, yet refusing to take gift cards/loyalty points.
My sons in the army and has his card with him, he hasn't been able to get to a shop to spend his loyalty points, so he has lost approx £20 worth. Not alot of money, but its not the point :(
    £100 - £10,000

I wonder what happens to the gamestation backed warranty on second hand equipment?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

People were warned a few weeks ago on here, and any genuine stores would have warned the customers. Some people dare I say need to check/read the news a bit more. As with many customers, they don't seem to read the signs!!!

We bought a second hand DS console from GAME in February and bought extended accidental damage coverage (It was only a tenner and we are clumsy, so it seemed like a reasonable deal at the time). Is the coverage useless now?
