Just received a letter from MBNA stating that from November they will charge a £15 annual fee on my West Ham United Visa card.
I also have 3 other MBNA cards but haven't received letters about those.......YET.
I have £9400 stoozed on this account that is due to expire in November and luckily my Egg anniversary 0% starts tomorrow so I shall pay this off and cancel the MBNA account. (I have until the 30th November to do this)
The other accounts I have are A+L, MBNA Beyond and MBNA platinum.Has anyone had such a letter relating to these accounts?

So will I. I don't believe in paying a fee for a credit card. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I have an A+L card. I haven't received a letter about any fees. Obviously, the card would go if they did introduce a fee.

Perhaps they are just trying it on with West Ham fans now they are back in the Premiership and everything is more expensive! Two Ways to Live
Which way will you choose? "... as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."0 -
I have an A&L moneyback card they are introducing a 2% BT & Cash handling fee from the 1st of November. They haven't said anything about the annual fee.0

Another thing I have just noticed at the end of the letter:
"If you don't want to pay the annual fee you have the right to close your account as long as:
you tell us by 30th November (as stated in my first post)
you cease to use your account straightaway. We will the close it when you have paid off any outstanding balance."
This last bit is dodgy if say you were on holiday and didn't receive the letter for a couple of weeks whilst using the card and then wanted to cancel by the end of November.A greedy man's bag is never full0 -

Perhaps they are experimenting with one card brand to see how it is received.
Tell them loud and clear or we may see more of it in future!0
