Festivals MSE stylee! :D

Hey all,

I’m aware that there are tons of us here who are going to festivals this year and I thought it would be a great idea to start a thread for us MSE’s who do not wish to spend any more than really necessary.

So the idea is, post up your festival money saving tips and I’ll also make sure I keep an eye on any supermarket special offers before each festival and post them up so you can take full advantage!

I hope this helps some of you mud lovers out there!
Little Pickle

If I have missed any festivals, please PM me and I’ll add to the list!

Its all very well buying the gear you need cheap, but when you get there the food and drinks are horrifically over-priced. Short of bringing a camping stove and lots of beans,(not a good idea for the loooog hike from the carpark to the camp site) there doesn't seem to be much you can do.... :(

I'm going to the o2 Wireless in Hyde Park on 5th July for Fat Boy Slim and Underworld.

I went last year. The weather was really bad for weeks before then all of a sudden the sun was out that day. Had a great time.

Camping does not come into it with that event. If you are coming from outside London then you could get money saving by advance booking hotels.

Money saving tip. Carry a water bottle in your hand. If its open they let you keep it. We all know what looks like water.

I always thought it was the other way round. If you have a bottle of water open or anything open you have to bin it to stop people bringing in booze.

oh, c'mon! don't be so defeatest!!!

In the past I have taken boxes of beer on special BOGOF or 3 for 20 etc... saved tons of cash!
    Same with spirits...

Look for offers on baby wipes / hand saniter gel / tooth paste / tooth brushes (I ALWAYS seems to loose mine!)

Food wise I have sucessfully taken pasta & sauce packets / bread rolls (in airtight container) / snack bars / crisps / nuts / eggs / croissants...

you only need one pan and one camping stove (or make a fire in the evening).

I usually have one small bag for clothes and one larger bag for food (for me and OH).
We took a wheel barrow last year in the car... PERFECT! All in one trip!

Carry as many cans of lager as you can in your rucksack...

Don't eat for 3 days, saves money and lets you carry more cans of lager...

Share a tent, that way you can save space for yet more lager...

    Oh final tip...

Buy your lager from the supermarket, it's normally cheaper
