Just got my v4 dialler and following instructions to make it phone and download its routing table.
The LED lights and flashes about 12 times and then goes out. What might the problem be?

That's what it's supposed to do. The LED is unlit most of the time - it only lights up if the dialler is communicating with the server.
If you want to know if your routing table's been accepted, access CW Client and see (a) what the dialler's last callback time was and (b) what your current active routing table is.

I have accessed CWClient. There is no active routing table yet and First Contact/Last Contact boxes are blank.0

Sometimes their server is busy and the dialler gives up quickly. I've found when it is downloading properly it takes about a minute and a half (approx). If yours is taking (ie flashing) for about 20 secs or so then it is likely there was a problem like number engaged, etc.
Just count how long the flashing lasts for approx to give you an idea of whether or not it worked.0 -
The flashing lasts for about 25 secs.
It's been like that since abot 6pm. Suppost I'll have to keep trying. Is it always like this?0 -
I've noticed it can be. I've only just 'called home' on one of our diallers and had no problems.
If you keep having problems then you may have to give Orchid a ring to check into it.
As for their instructions all I do is:-
Lift handset
Dial * * * 1 2 # 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 * 3
Replace handset
Then just time how long it takes approx. If it lasts a minute or so then you should be fine but can be checked by 'Last Contact' within CWclient.0 -
Thanks.
Still getting the same problem. I've even noticed it start flashing again on its own - should it?0 -
Not as far as i'm aware - well I never noticed it on ours anyhow.
It does light up and stay lit when you pick the receiver up though.0 -
Hi Jem, assuming your routing table is set up properly ect.. try this, it resets the dialler and calls home:
lift handset and dial **#0000*01536272200*1 then replace handset
lift handset and dial **#0000*1*8 then replace handset
lift handset and dial **#0000*0** then replace heandset
lift hand set and dial **#0000*0*7 then replace handset
lift hand set and dial ***12#4567890*3 then replace handset
the little red light on the dialler will flash a few times. After a few mins, check your routing table on CW client, you will know if the dialler has called home or not if you put on your name and password, once main page has loaded, click on product ( and find your dialler ), double click on your dialler details, a details box should come up at the bottome of that page, and if there is a " active routing table - get started & a " new routing - get started" that's a good indication you have had a success. Good luck!!0 -
That did the trick :T
Why did it need resetting?0 -
Orchid did explain to me why it needed resetting, but I've forgotten. I think it's just like anything, if you somehow mess it up the first time, it gets confused and won't accept commands till it's reset. But at least it's working now, and you have the means to sort it out next time :beer:0
