Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!
Following requests to start things steadier for new members who did not realise the tasks list wasn’t a must do, just an encouragement. There will now be level 1, 2 and 3. Level 1 being very basic it has been requested that this is just one task per day, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. If you want to do level 2 you add the tasks on level 1 with the level 2 tasks, if you want to do level 3 you add the tasks on, easy peasy. Choose a level to aim for but be realistic, if you’ve got a busy day on or are just starting etc aim for level one, if you get higher then great, if not then not to worry its only suggestions. Every room comes back around next week. Trust me some days I'll only be doing level one myself.
THESE LISTS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A MUST DO LIST, ALWAYS WELCOME TO POST AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN.
Also adding a declutter mission each day. Another one where it’s up to you if you want to do it or if you need to. This follows requests from members who are looking to declutter. Fling boogies, hotspot clearing, cupboard sorts, drawer sorts etc will all be on this list. Any problems with this of any suggestions do please let me know.
A few of the basics before we start the week
Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!
Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc
Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.
27 Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding 27 items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.
Swish and swipe means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis
HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
5GC five minutes gardening.. make it lovely for your spring flowers and sowing
Ok here goes this week!
Mad Monday - Master Bedroom & Landing
Level 1
Check fire alarms are working
Remove and wash bed linen and duvet covers.
Fling open the window and let in the spring!
Level 2
Dust surfaces & make sure no cobwebs..
Vacuum & turn mattress before replacing with fresh linen..
Air the duvet
15 minutes floordrobe clearance
Level 3
Vacuum floors in bedroom and on landing
Sort 10 things from your wardrobe (or someone elses) that you can get rid of... and a pair of shoes only counts as one thing! likewise socks!
Clear a hotspot.. or spend 15 minutes clearing one.
Extra tasks list, as usual choose one or more
Level One
Clean floors in these rooms
Level Two
Clean baths, toilets, don't forget the outside! and sinks
Clear any clutter from desk
Dust PC and desk and wipe off those cup rings!!
Wipe keyboard, house phone, sockets, switches and mouse etc
Level Three
Wash your bathroom mats, nets, clean blind/curtains etc
Wipe down tiles in bathroom.. defragment your pc while doing this.
Empty and clean out all the upstairs bins! (the proper bins not the rooms that look like bins!)
Clean shower screen/curtain if you have one/if required
Clear a mega hotspot!.. shred it.. and fling it.. or just burn it!
Extra mission: Take your pick!
Level 1
Vacuum floors and sofas
Level 2
Dusting, even if around everything
Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe
Clean TV, other electricals and cabinets
Clean out the fire.. if you can do it safely!!! Don't go taking things apart please and make sure it is cold!!
Level 3
Wipe light switches, sockets (make sure they are not switched on!!) and banister
Wipe the bits on the stairs that need wiping.. skirting or just the exposed edges of the stairs.. mine look like fluff piles!
Tidy shoes, coats and bags .. Are there any that need rehoming/washing/polishing?
Vacuum under furniture you can manage to move without hurting yourself
Extra Mission: Pick one or more of the following tasks –
Level One
Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces
Level Two
Sweep and mop floors
Sort & clean fridge bringing what needs using soon to the front, clean out any spills or grots in there!
Wipe dining table.. (clean table cloth if necessary)
Level Three
Dust any extra furniture in dining area, checking for cobwebs on way round
Wipe and replace all those small appliances.. kettle, toaster etc
Clean out the kitchen junk drawers.. nasty dumping grounds!!
Clean cupboard door fronts and fronts of appliances .. don't forget those kick boards..
Check those washing machine filters and drawers for ickiness!! Tumble dryer, cooker hood and dishwasher filters need to be done too!!
Extra Mission : help yourself
Level One
Clear away anything that isn't in it's place, clothes, toys, books etc
Spend at least half an hour doing something for yourself!!!!! paint your nails, make an appointment to have your hair done, a lovely soak in the bath.. whatever you feel like!! I'm having my nails done this morning as usual
Level Two
Vacuum the floor
Dusting.. all those shelves and flat fluffy surfaces!! Don’t forget the light shade and curtain pole!!!
Strip beds, turn and vacuum mattresses!! and replace with fresh linen .. check if duvets need freshening up too!!
Level Three
Clean 2 windows
Sort through a cupboard/chest of drawers and get the clothes out which are no longer wearable, too small or out of season!
Wipe any sticky marks off walls and doors
Extra Task List
For those who have extra weekend time and can't function without tasks... lol If you don't have time or want to spend time with your family that is brilliant.. go for it. It is a list of 10 tasks to do over the weekend if you get chance.. no pressure at all.. just ideas and reminders and springy preparations!
This is also a chance to get hubby's and children involved in the flying

- Gather up the dirty laundry upstairs!!
- HHI... a bit more gone!

- Paperwork clearance.. spend 15 minutes minimum sorting through those piles of paper.. or box it up to sort through later!!
- Clean windows & any other glass like mirrors, pictures etc
- Clean a radiator or two.
- Binbag dance.. Get a binbag.. fill it and bin it!!!
- HHI.. get that mountain gone!
Level One
Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces
Level Two
Sweep and mop floors
Sort & clean fridge bringing what needs using soon to the front, clean out any spills or grots in there!

- Wipe down any tiles and shine those taps.. a toothbrush is great for cleaning away the gunk!
- Clean oven if it really needs it.. or just do the hob
- 33 fling boogie.. GO!
- Empty the bin.. wash it out.. and make it smell SWEET
Level One

- Meal plan for the next week and make a shopping list... based on what you found in the freezer and those things that need using from weekly cupboard sweep
- Extra 30 minutes ironing.. school uniforms? work clothes?
- Spend 15 minutes pairing up those nasty odd socks.. children are great at helping with these!!
- spend at least an hour with your family... playing, reading or just watching a dvd and having a hug!
- Work yourself to level 3 in your messiest room!!
- Wash the childrens (or adults) dirty coats.. I have 2 covered in mud!
- Make sure you have everything ready for school/work for next week.. pe kits, socks, homework done etc. LAST WEEK BEFORE THE EASTER HOLIDAYS.. WOOHOO!! 4 days left here
- Fill a binbag of things to get rid of.. charity/bin etc
- As a family effort clear the hall, stairs and landing.. make them beautiful.. it looks fabulous when you have someone knock at the door and their first impression is of a beautiful clean home (then they come inthe next room lol!!)

Fire lit too so shouldn't take to long to heat the water.
Now dishes, feed dog, iron uniforms and sort DD pencil case (i don't know what that child does with her colouring pencils).
Back soon to update....Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.And things go wrong no matter what I do.Now and then it seems that life is just too much.But you've got the love I need to see me through.:j :j0 -
Work outs well, my bedroom really needs doing badly.
Today I have done.. well very little but DH has hoovered through, done the dishes and mopped the floor while I.... helped..... by staying out his way.... in the cupbaord.... but I did tidy it first... so I could get the folding chair up to sit down... I was not hiding! I was helping, ask DS1 he knows how to help by staying out the way....
WM and TD been on loads because I found loads of dirty clothes yesterday in the kids room, and the bedding too.
OK, going to make a start on my bedroom now. Well, in 15 mins LOL!0 -
Am going to try and have a go at this again as I have been rather lax for the last few weeks. Work full time so can only do as much as I can in the evenings but have done a couple of bits for tomorrow already

This will be the first time I have tried this challenge and I am no domestic godess believe me.
My normal moto being if I can walk round it,through it, or past it then there is no problem :rotfl:
So for my first attempt I am aiming for level 3 :eek: Have washed bedding today ready for tommorow so I hope this still counts.

boing - I'm in !!!! Thanks for thread pigpen, hope crufts is good. woof.
This afternoon have:
- battaned down hatches ready for storms
- cleared half the junk heap at side of house
- did a bit of weeding
- cleaned the paddling pool - yuck
- picked leaves out of the sandpit. Mudpit more like.
- swept kitchen floor
- sorted neighbours mail (they have moved & junk still arriving in their house)
- bullied DH into moving neighbours stuff from our garage to theirs (long story)
- bullied DH into moving garden umbrella into shed, I couldn't unscrew it to get it off table
Still need to:
- get LO up - she is whingeing but had a 2 hr sleep - for a change not interrupted by school run - so I can't complain
- feed LO
- iron uniforms
- strip bed to get ahead of the game tomorrow
- packed lunches
- get DD swimming kit ready
- tidy kitchen while DH does bathtime
DH doing our tea - a rare event - so I can crack on while he does that.
