Bras

I thought a lot before posting this thread and I mean to cause no offence or anything else I just want some reasonable answers to my question.

I have a problem in buying bras as I am an "awkward size" I am quite big as it were but not enormous. I usually get my bras from M & S and they cost between £10. and £28.00. However the last ones I have bought the cups have become wrinkled and as they wre t-shirt bras they defeated their own purpose as you could see the wrinkles through my t-shirt. I have today found some bras in Bon Marche haveing spent the last few weekends looking for decent ones in M & S, Next, BHS etc etc.

Firstly, I ask do you feel that wearing bras from Bon Marche is okay? I prefer M & S because I feel more attractive knowing I have a good quality bra on. Do you think it makes a diff to the opp sex? Does any one else have problems? DO you feel M & S no longer provide us with a decent selection of underwear? Do any of you have any other ideas where I may get the sized bra I need which is still feminine and not something by nan would wear - sorry nan but I am only in my 30!s

Have you tried looking at figleaves online? They have a great range.

As far as make of bra is concerned - as long as you like the style, the fit and it is comfortable, I wouldn't worry where it came from. I have a really great bra from primark (via a friend, she bought it and it was too small for her) and I have a bra from M&S that is very cheap looking - ordered online and wasn't worth returning.

I must say I have just about given up on M&S for bras - the fit just never seems to be right (and yes I have been "measured and fitted", several times!) and I've had problems with the fabric/lining wrinkiling, too.
My latest bras have come from Bravissimo, and so far I'm really pleased. If they don't have a store near you, they do mail order. HTH.

As a well endowed lady :p I find that I cannot wear cheap bras. I bought a cheap one from BHS (reduced to £10) and it is awful. Its ok for the first hour but then it starts to rise up at the back and the front starts to droop.

I bought a lovely plain Fantasie T shirt bra (in the sale for £14) and its fantastic. I have been trying to get more, even at full price.

I also bought 2 in M&S for the first time in years as I too find their sizing unpredictable now. The first one, which I am wearing, is not exactly sexy but its very comfortable, supportive and most importantly skin tone colour.
The other one is a lacy cream job. Very pretty but again nice and supportive.

I usually buy makes in Debenhams or House of Fraser on 20% off day which makes them more reasonable. Best bargain was a Rigby & Pellar for £5 in HOF.

Re your wrinkly bras, M&S make a big thing that all their bras are machine washable (most makes advise hand wash only). If they are current stock take them back. You have nothing to lose.

As a member of the opposite sex with 15yrs experience of Mrs MATH's bras I would say if it can be unhooked by your partner with one hand saving having to put his drink/cigar down then buy it and to heck with where it came from.:D

Seriously tho:rolleyes: My Mother, Sister and Mrs MATH do not buy off the peg bras. Ones fitted at a proper lingeri shop may seem expensive but they fit better are more comfortable and flattering and do the job far better than department store jobbies. (so they tell me)

I have managed to get one at a proper lingerie shop as even when they measure me they still dont have my size but thanks for the point of view of the opposite sex it made me chuckle.

I have bras from bon marche but i prefer the bras from evans. Little more expensive but they do a wide range of back and cup sizes in, prettier styles than m&s imho.

Can i get a wooo from the ladies with big boobs sick of wearing granny type bras?!!!

Have had a few from Evans and found them lovely. The last 3 I have bought have been off ebay. Try them on in Debenhams etc and then find them on ebay for a third the price. HTH

nothing like trying them on at home, from this point of view M&S is great for returns.
bra changing rooms are not relaxing places :o

some of the mail order bra companies seem to charge a lot for P+P, plus you have to pay for cost of postage for returns. sizes can vary so much it helps to try on different cup + back sizes in each style.

I'm part way long through weight loss journey, and buying new bras is very costly, have to make do with clothes I've shrunk out off as never quite sure how long I'll stick at one size.

I love figleaves too, I am sure M & S think people with bigger cups need industrial looking scaffolding, even though the "back" sizes go much higher than mine I get annoyed when they stop at D but go to 44, I only want 38E which is not too much to ask.

With Figleaves you can search by the actual size required so you don't see what won't fit you.
