I've just read through post of the month. An amazing number of people now seem to be nominated and doing great things on the board. There's obviously no way to reward all of them. Is there a better way to do post of the month perhaps?
Any thoughts - (im not thinking of getting rid of it - just looking for ideas!)

Prehaps you need to get the BGs to nominate one from each board ,their board ............then put it to a poll for the winner,or you decide from them.
that way you limit the number of nominations.0 -
a poll sounds like a good idea but could be manipulated if the outcome was tight.......if a post got a very high number of votes then that could be the answer.........ideas anybody?:whistle:Make Hay While The Sun Shines:think:0

maybe not such a good idea after all,too much responsibility and could be open to backlash,sorry will have another think.
How about bgs pick one each from a differant board via random selection ,
andrea ,say, lists the boards randomly (changing each month) and guides are listed alphabetically,match the two lists to get which board each BG can nominate a post from (this will therefore be differant from month to month)...............secretly so no-one knows who picked what and then the picked posts are put to a poll to be voted on my members:D or Martin
the good thing about this is you limit the nominations to a set amount,all boards get a chance (even the boards that don't have a large amount of traffic,just by their very nature,but are none the less helpful) and the BGs are protected from abuse/backlash:D0 -

I think there could be a panel made up of regular contributors - maybe one from each board or maybe fewer - not boardguides or Martin or MSE staff, but people who contribute to certain boards. They could provide a short list of eg. 10 nominations per month which could then be a poll.Torgwen..........

I think this is one of the thing's you really should keep traditional. Post of the month is a facet of this site which sets it apart from the "others". If you are able to, would it not be a better idea to introduce an extra catagory say for most helpful member.
The original post of the month had the emphasis on going to the person whom had provided the best deal, so this extra catagory would make it possible for more people to win a prize for their contributions be them "Money Saving Bargains" or just straight forward "Good Advice".
In the future you could also add extra catagories as the site evolves.
Just my thoughts, hope you find them useful.

It should be members choice,not board guides,paid staff or Martin.
This site is for everyone from all walks of life with differant backgrounds and problems/challenges,it should be whose who decide.0
