Shortbread - I have used the recipes from this board and the cornflour/icing sugar one behaved better for the cookie cutters and my 3 year old.

I've found a couple in the Be-Ro Book.

    Rich Biscuits
    8oz (225g) SR Flour
    4oz (100g) caster sugar
    4oz (100g) butter
1/2 lemon, grated rind and juice
    1 egg, beaten

Mix flour and sugar, rub in the butter
Add lemon rind, juice and sufficient egg to make a stiff dough.
Roll out thinly and cut out. Place on greased baking trays and cook for 10/15 minutes.

    Oven pre heated to180oC / 350oF / gas 4

    Shrewsbury Biscuits
As above with the addition of 20z (50g) currants.

    I've been Money Tipped!
This is the recipe I always use with cutters as it is so forgiving! IYSWIM I used to use it when baking at school with the children, it is from the Jif lemon cooking book.

    Easy cut out cookie recipe
4 oz 100g) butter or margerine
    3 oz (75g) caster sugar
    1 egg
1 tsp lemon juice (could substitute with vanilla essence but less needed)
    8 oz plain flour

Cream the butter/margarine and sugar. Beat in the egg with the lemon juice. Fold in the flour and form into a soft dough. Roll out the dough on a floured board and cut into biscuit shapes. bake for 10 - 15 mins at 375F/190C/Gas mark 5. Leave until cold and then ice and decorate.

Here's the link to the shortbread thread. I used the first recipe (I tried the one with the caster sugar in too, but it didn't behave as well for the cookie cutters).

I know you lovely people out there will help me.

I bought heart shaped cutters in Mr T's for £1 and would like to bake some biscuits with my dd. There's probably a thread for this already but I couldn't find it. I'm looking for some tasty biscuit recipes that can be cut with the cutters

    Thanks
