MoneySaving in Marriages, Relationships & Families

Hi,
I know this is probably the wrong place (and making it worse) but i dont see many "MoneySaving in Marriages, Relationships & Families Posts"
i see lots of "help me" posts that have nothing to do with SAVING MONEY.
This is a money saving experts forum not a general help with life forum
what time to put your kids to bed or how to get your kid to do homework are NOT money saving problems....
Perhaps we could have a sub forum for those with problems and those with advice but please for the love of god stick to saving money posts
for more info:

or being the grumpy man i am i will report posts ...(including my own waste of time one here)

The orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.

These posts are supposed to go into the money saving arms thread. They generally get moved by the mods so are not really a problem.
Sometimes if someone is feeling a bit desperate they may post it here instead of there as they want to post quickly and as they see similar threads here it seems like the correct place, but no biggy really is it.0 -
The Arms seems to be a lighthearted discussion forum, so there does seem to be a need for a forum especially for people to post who are having relationship or family problems. Surely though, its obvious from the title of the thread, what the OP is needing advice about, so I can't really see the problem. If people don't want to read these posts, then don't! I have been 'guilty' of posting in this forum (was a newbie). and it was moved eventually. I am amazed by the amount of support offered to 'strangers' on here and can only say thank you to all those who have helped me in the past. :A0

Actually I do think you are being a grumpy old man.
Read the thread title it does tend to say what the post is about. The Arms isn't all light hearted discussion and there is a sub forum there called Discussion Time.
Most people who read this forum do so because they have children and families, are getting married etc.. so it seems that they would be the best qualified to perhaps give help to someone who needs it. Instead of in The Arms, where a lot of people hang just to belittle posters and take the proverbial. There are some lovely people in The Arms, but also trolls.
You state yourself that the post you have made drawing people's attention to this is a waste of time, and what you I think have served to do is to make those people posting here for help and advice even worse as they now think that they have done wrong.
What purpose is reporting posts going to serve? Other than give the Mods more work trying to sort out your petty issues with Non Money Saving posts. People have been posting in this manner in this forum for a good while now and you coming along complaining in a militant grumpy old man fashion will not change that. Perhaps you need to post your original post in site feedback found here which would probably be a more appropriate place to have posted this, if we are being pedantic.I saw two shooting stars last nightI wished on them but they were only satellitesIs it wrong to wish on space hardwareI wish, I wish, I wish you'd care0 -

I agree with Ophie.
I read this board most and I feel I know the people who read it. I don't visit the Arms much, so I don't know the posters there very well. If you have a family problem you want to talk about, it makes sense to talk with friends, rather than strangers.
From reading the Arms, it seems very jokey with people taking the mickey. That's fine for people who want a laugh and a carry on, but it would be upsetting for someone asking for advice on a serious matter so see their problem pulled to bits and laughed at.Here I go again on my own....0 -
Totally agree with Ophie, whats up d900 not got any Christmas cards yet so you thought you'd come and have a rant at all the people on here, while this site is about Money Saving, does it really matter if someone asks for advice on life, love and anything they feel they need help with? I certainly don't think so and the thousands of normal folk who reply to these posts can't do either.MARCHING ON TOGETHER0

Hmmm I guess if you don't like it don't read it would be my suggestion ... I know I've asked non-money related qs in the past and had some really helpful answers. The other thing is that there will often be a money implication somewhere behind the question as well..
I'd encourage the mods not to move anything unless it's offensive personally...0 -
I personally don't see any problem with any of the posts on here or other boards. I would have thought that the site owner,Martin Lewis, would have made an issue of NOT posting anything not to do with money saving if he so wished. After all he has said many a time that the help and support on this site is not only about money saving, its about supporting and helping each other to get through what is for that person a really difficult time

Yes you are being gumpy
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted
I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p
