Great, if that's true - again, so those members who aren't within travelling distance of WBBS can get stuffed.
If that's the case then they're getting no more of my dosh (except perhaps £100) and I'll let them know why.0 -
If you can get £1000 per month in you will Gross approx £480.00 in interest (approx £384 after 20% tax).
Having scanned the West Brom web-site there appears to be 51 branches.
Although 95% are centred around the Midlands I have seen both LEICESTER, CHESTER AND SWINDON appear.
Maybe worth considering.Old Saying Once bitten twice shy

Moneyfacts are listing the account on their Rate Alert ticker, as:
"West Bromwich BS launches Magic 8 paying 5.50% plus 2.60% bonus"
So that makes the overall rate (incl. bonus) 8.10%.Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -

Found this account on moneysupermarket, might just go for it.0 -
I've rung my nearest branch (Swindon)(some 30 miles away) and they are going to post me an application form, but as of this morning they didn't have any details about it!0

Opened one of these today. There was advertising for it in the window, saying "branch exclusive". Had to make an appointment, and I managed to glance at the guidance for staff about this product, which said:
- objective is to increase footfall in branches and provide cross-selling and referral opportunities (ie sell you other products)
- strictly limited offer available in all branches, will close after the earlier of 3 months or £2m in deposits
- this offer replaces the Magnificent 7 offer (not to be confused with betdirect's horse-racing offer of the same name!)
They allowed an hour for my appointment which seems excessive but that would have allowed for plenty of cross-selling had I seemed interested! In fact it only took 15 minutes. I was given a passbook for the account.
The £2m in deposits surprised me, as this is only 2000 customers if each puts in £1000! Across 50 branches that's 40 accounts per branch.. Act quickly if you want to open it; the Stroud and Swindon 7.05% lasted less than a week! Unless I read it wrongly and it was £2m deposits per branch.0 -
Thanks p1an0player
I would go for this, but live no where near any branch, so if they don't do a postal account I'll have to miss this opportunity.
The only issue with the rate, is that it will follow the BoE rate, so if that drops so does the rate on this account.0 -
Give your nearest branch a call - my application form's being sent out today. They said they will accept application to branch via snailmail0

Received my application form in the post this morning from my local "30 miles" away branch, have returned it today via recorded delivery. Found that a useful thing to do, to guarantee the date it gets there, so if there's a cut off point, you have proof of posting and arrival. Got a certified copy of my passport in my own bank.0
