Can I Fix This?

Options
I have finally faced up to the fact that I am in a total mess that I cannot see any way out of at all. I have followed Spud30's advice and posted my SOA below, and it is making me feel sick just looking at it.

If any of you have time can you please read through it and offer any constructive advice that you can think of?

Monthly Income

My salary - £1,327.00

Monthly Outgoings

Rent - £450.00
Council Tax - £93.00
Gas - £35.00
Electric - £20.00
TV License - £11.00
Phone - £15.00
Mobile/Broadband - £35.00
Food - £200
Car Insurance - £52.00
Petrol - £100.00
Union Fees - £16.00
Registration Fees - £6.00
Work Clothes/Shoes - £10.00
Road Tax/MOT - £20.00

Total: £1,063.00

Debts

A&L Loan 1 - £17,871.42 0% APR currently with Buchannan Clark and Wells
A&L Loan 2 - £6,912.37 0% APR currently with Capquest
A&L overdraft - £1,007.01 0% APR currently with Legal & Trade
Halifax Loan - £2,186.54 0% APR currently with Legal & Trade
Halifax CC - £3,306.93 0% APR currently with Legal and Trade
Goldfish CC - £5,963.12 0% APR currently with Moorcroft
Debenhams CC -£ 957.19 0% APR currently with Lewis Group

Total - £38,204.58

I am currently trying to negotiate repayment plans with the above companies but none seem to be willing to accept the amounts that I can actually afford to pay them. I really do not know what to do but know that I have to do something as it will not sort itself. I contacted CCCS but they seemed to think that insolvency was the most viable option for me but I reaaly do not want to do that if there is any other way.

Of course you can fix it.

My debts are a similar size to yours. I only have £119 spare each month to pay my debts, but CCCS are happy for me to have a DMP. I think in the early days, they suggested an IVA or bankruptcy, but I told them I didnt want either.

Some of the experts will be along to have a look at your SOA, but in the meantime, make yourself a brew, and relax. You've taken the first step to getting sorted.

how many people are you feeding? is it just you? if so the food bill can come down perhaps?

As spud has said, there's disposable income there so there's no reason you couldn't do a DMP. Our debts are around £30k and we pay £200 a month on a DMP so it's definitely doable

It is just me that am feeding. I know it sounds pathetic but I am still learning how to plan and budget my food. I was made write a meal plan yesterday and told only to buy what is on it for a week and staple my receipts to it so that I can work out how much it actually costs to feed me and how much I am wasting on non essentials.

    oops crossed post

ok well if that is just for you then £200 can be reduced a lot. I spend less than that feeding a family of 5. Pop over to the oldstyle board and ask for some tips in there xx

My car insurance is horrible but I have shopped around and it seems that it will stay this high until I am over 25.

what kind of car have you got and is it 3rd party or fully comp? Do you have no claims bonus? have you thought about doing the pass plus driving course? it apparently can halve your car insurance if you are under 25?
