Thanks it will be nice not having to totally rely on my sister for a change as I know that she has more than enough to worry about already and does not need me adding to it.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0

I still cannot believe it especially after the way he was asked if there were any vacancies! I went in with my sister on saturday night and we went to the bar and after ordering drinks she just came right out and said to him "do you have any jobs going for a crap but charming barmaid?" He said yes and took my number but I thought that he would be more likely to bar me than employ me after this! :rotfl:Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0

Dont forget you gave your sister away last night, so you cant rely on her anymore
The great thing about a bar job, is that in addition to the extra income, it will get you out and meeting people - a bit like being paid to have a night out
Good luck tonight, I'll be thinking about you.Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

I am really looking forward to it as I still do not know that many people here and it will be nice to meet some more with the added bonus that I will get paid for it as well.

Hey Ciara,
First of all well done on working out your SOA and posting it here, that's the first and hardest step taken
Everyone has already given really good advice and I'm not too sure how good mine is in comparison, but just thought I'd add my two cents worth anyway! I hope you don't mind! (my comments are in pink!!)
Monthly Income
My salary - £1,327.00 - Is this your gross (before tax, NI etc) or net (take-home, e.g. what you actually get in your pocket each month) pay?
Monthly Outgoings
Rent - £450.00
Council Tax - £93.00
Gas - £35.00 - Are you committed to a contract with them, or can you look into switching to a cheaper supplier?
Electric - £20.00 - Same as with gas?
TV License - £11.00
Phone - £15.00 - If you are paying for a mobile phone as well, do you really need this?
Mobile/Broadband - £35.00
Food - £200 - As everyone has said this can come down quite a bit fairly painlessly!!- my OH and me shop online at Tesco's so we aren't tempted by things we see in the store, PLUS you can search online discount codes to get free delivery or £10 off when you spend £100 or something
Car Insurance - £52.00 - You might think this is an odd suggestion but it worked for my younger bro, he paid the insurance for my Mum to be the named driver and him to be the ''main'' driver. She actually never drives it but it took £400 / year off his bill because of her no-claims discount!! (he does pay a small premium to protect her no-claims though)
Petrol - £100.00
Union Fees - £16.00
Registration Fees - £6.00 - What are these for?
Work Clothes/Shoes - £10.00
Road Tax/MOT - £20.00 - Well done on saving up a bit each month for these- just a quick thought about the MOT, there's an article on here somewhere about government MOT test centres, there's a legal requirement on them that means they can be lots cheaper - I don't have the link sorry but I'm sure someone much more knowledgeable than me on here will have it!
Don't forget with the CC companies etc, the people you are talking to are paid to make you think there is no other option and force you to pay up more than you can afford to!! So don't you listen to them for one minute.
At the end of the day supposing you were to declare yourself bankrupt, they wouldn't get a damn penny of the money, and they know that. Others can perhaps advise better than me on this but perhaps tell them that if they won't take the pro rata payments you are offering them, you will have to look into bankruptcy, and then just see what they say?? If they say OK then you still aren't committed to anything, just get off the phone, but you never know they may just back down.
Anyway - I hope some of my mad ramblings has helped - if nothing else just remember that you've got support on here whenever you need it!!
Take care! (oh and well done on the bar job!)Target debt - Loan left over from previous relationship - c. £3700

Besides your sister would give me earache if I didn't help you out!
I have been worrying about this all day. It implies that you know my sister which is not really surprising as she knows an awful lot of people in different places. Does this mean that you know me as well? Am getting more worried as my debts are still secret and only my sister and people on here actually know about them.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0 -
I have written my plan of action for tomorrow.
First I need to contact CCCS and ask if they will run a Debt Management Plan for me
Second I need to contact the council to ask for single person's rebate on my council tax.
Third I need to contact power companies to see if I can get any better deals on gas and electric.
Fourth I need to speak to my sister about the car and how she would feel if I sold it.
Fifth I need to ound up everything I can and sell on e-bay.
I have pinned this list to the fridge and will tick each one off as I have done it. But now I am going to get ready to start my new job and find out how much I will get paid and how many hours I will be doing.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0 -
