Nationwide Isa 8 Weeks Delay

Options
8 weeks ago I applied to Nationwide to have my cash Isa transfered from Alliance & Leicester to a new Nationwide Cash Isa. The money has been transfered from A&L but it has failed to materialize into my Nationwide Isa. When I enquired at my branch I was told there was a short delay due to backlog. That was several weeks ago. I have since tried to phone the Nationwide Isa Headquarters in Swindon on several occasions. The automated message keeps telling me to ring later because of call volume. I keep getting the same message whatever time I rang. I have tried emailing Nationwide without getting a single reply or acknowledgement.
Is anyone else out there having the same problem? Is this what Nationwide means by Proud to be different?

what is it with these ISA delays? A few weeks ago it was Barclays. You would think these huge banks would be able to deal with relatively simple transactions promptly in this day and age wouldn't you?

The same happened to me. it took them 2 months to transfer the ISA.
They assured me that the Interest would be backdated.

    Same here.

Applied to transfer from Halifax to Abbey on 10th April.

First word from Abbey was on 8th May when they confirmed transfer had been requested.

    Still waiting.

They'll always same something like "It's very busy around March, April, May because so many people apply to open ISAs around the same time [end/start of tax year]" Very true, of course. But if they know this and can foresee it then they (the larger organisations) can shift staff in readiness for the busy time. And it gets worse - as every year there can potentially be as many new ISAs added as there are adults. After 10 years it could (in theory) reach 300 million separate accounts. Now if people start getting itchy and transfer those accounts more and more often the delays could reach six months, never mind two!
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

Appalling, isn't it? I, too, have been waiting 8 weeks for a transfer to materialize in Nationwide. It has been 4 weeks since my old provider closed my account and sent the cheque to Nationwide. So where is this sitting now? In Nationwide's account earning them interest?

What I'm really disgusted with is their lack of communication. The amount of time I've been put on hold and also having to go back into the branch to enquire - all to find out they are backlog. Surely they can at least confirm when transfer was received from my previous provider and apologise for delays!!!

Has anyone had similar experiences in past years? Does this happen at Nationwide EVERY year?!
  • Same thing here! I am unable to get any kind of response from Nationwide. My old provider - HSBC - closed the ISA account on 10th May and presumably passed the money to Nationwide.
Nationwide's service in this instance is appalling! They have not even confirmed that I sent them an application to transfer my ISA.
I made an official complaint via the website, as the Branch staff have NO IDEA what they are doing, saying on more than one occasion that they could not get through to their own Head Office! It took Nationwide 6 working days to send me a letter confirming they had received my complaint, but would not be giving an answer for another THREE WEEKS!! The answer is due 19th June. Meanwhile they have still not acknowledged they are doing anything about my ISA transfer.

Nationwide obviously does not value my custom and will be losing it as soon as I can make other arrangements.

I am caught up in the Nationwide delay too, I am transferring out and have chased it up several times.
I have been informed that they are currently working on 26th April.
A member of Nationwide staff has told me they have a backlog of 10,000 transfers in and 3,000 transfers out. This was before they released the latest fixed rate ISA
They say that interest will be backdated, but how do they backdate a transfer out?
