Weekly Flylady Thread 26th March 2007

Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread, usually ran by Moggins but I'm just filling in temporarily. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!

For those just starting, it does get easier each week, it may take you an hour to do the tasks set at frst but in no time you'll get it down to less than half that (ask the others they are the living proof) Don't try to catch up, if you join us on a Friday start from then, everything will come back round again. Noone on here is perfect, there are some days I don't get everything done, but as always I give it a good go! Some find it best to set a 15 minute timer for each room/part of the task.

A few of the basics before we start the week.
Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc

Nighttime routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

27 Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding 27 items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Hi, I'm going to join in if that's okay :o

Cottoned on to this thread in the last couple of days and thought to myself I'm going to give this a try. Did follow some of the advice from the Flylady website last year but found it quite confusing and could never get my head around the fact I had to shine my sink morning and night!

This seems really straightforward and something I could achieve plus knowing you're not alone really helps too. :)

I've already cleaned the oven after the roast - and it only took a couple of minutes: thanks for making me do it last week.
Also - I poured some vinegar in the roasting pan and stuck it in the oven while we were having tea (it was still hot because we had yorkies - yum yum!) - and it helped clean the pan and the oven.
    Is it home time yet?

Hi all, another newbie to this thread.
I tried fly lady a couple of years ago when I first became a mum.
I currently work 3 part time days a week and this is soon going to increase to 4 part time days so I'm going to have less time to do the houseworky stuff. Starting fly lady now may help in a couple of months when the new working pattern kicks in and as I'm normally cleaning the kitchen and dining room on a Monday anyway it seems like the ideal way to go.
...it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

    Good evening everyone!!!

Well, ive got a head start on tomorrow already! Ive managed to catch up on the bits i didnt do last week, that i do at the weekends (hoover/dust upstairs, get children to tidy their rooms and also do the stairs) and ive also cleaned the kitchen floor (including under the kitchen table!!!). I do actually clean the floor most days (im not that much of a dirty mare) but i have a block re under the kitchen table - its never really dirty (anything dropped gets cleaned ASAP) but it does get dusty, and i keep putting it off - not sure why cos it doesnt take long!!!
Anyway, thats one job now i wont need to do tomorrow now, so really pleased.
Ive already made the packs for tomorrow, DW emptied and started to be re loaded, so nothing much left to do now, before it all starts again tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • bought some oven cleaner today so i guess i have no excuse to avoid that monstrosity this week

    Hiya
I'm back on track now and had quite a sort out over the weekend. Chucked a bin bag of rubbish from the children's bedrooms and two bin bags for the charity shop. Will do kitchen, downstairs loo and dining room tomorrow but it shouldn't take too long as they're not looking too bad.
    Have a good week xx
