What do you want to achieve in your life?
Here's what I want to do.
What do you want to achieve in your life?
Here's what I want to do.
- Pay off all debt (including car loan) by the time I'm 25.
- Save up house deposit and buy our own house.
- Raise my children to be happy and healthy adults with money sense!
- Be financially stable and not be watching the pennies all the time.
- Be able to afford what we want without scrimping and saving.
- Develop a decent career when my girls are at school.
- *maybe* have another child but not for a GOOD while. (Dh would take some convincing though!)
- Have a happy loving and successful marriage.
- Be happy, healthy and loved.

Good idea for a thread
*Clear all debt by 22
*Do garden up by the end of this year
*Save to do the house up
*Aim to get on a paramedic degree within the next 3years when the kids are at school
*Aim to move up the housing ladder again when we have £100K to put on a property for deposit (currently have about 50K) so trying to increase it with house price rises over the next few years and house improvements0 -
Good idea for a thread I_A. I can't really think life plan-wise, seems too far off! But for now...
* Get all my debt cleared by October
* Start HE and not get into more debt
* Save for and buy a newer car
* Get a paid position with my volunteer job or progress to supervisor at my current job
That'll do for the next 2 and half years

Well I can't think of my whole life, but here are some things for starters:
1. Pay off debt by Jan 2008
2. Never be in debt again
3. Get married to the love of my life next year in the Canadian Rockies
4. Have 2 kids
5. See as much of the world as possible
6. One day, buy a really nice car as a treat and pay cash
7. Move house next year, somewhere bigger.
8. Be happy and live each day as if it were my last and each night as if it were my first!
9. Never smoke again

Life plan?
Hmm, we've got a vague one but should really firm it up a bit:
* pass my exams in June & start using my new found skills
* Get DW a new job with similar pay but a shorter commute (& a better boss)
* get all DW's debt paid off next year
* get all our non-mortgage debt paid off before DW is 40 (4 years to go...)
* be looking at buying / starting a B & B before DW is 45
Put like that it seems a lot of focus on goals for her.... <shrug> I just want to be able to stop worrying about money & afford to plitter about with motorcycles. The B & B bit means finishing renovating this house & clearing the bulk of the mortgage so I guess I'd better get back to work.0 -
Good thread I_A! Our life plan goes something like this
1) Try to keep out of debt and heads above water for next three years until children are at school full time. I work part time so income low but can't beat quality time with kids.
2) Return to work full time in 2010 then really try hard to over pay mortgage with extra money earned.
3) Previous endowment policy due in 2019 (current mortgage is repayment) which will knock a big chunk off mortgage -£40k hopefully-so hope to be nearly mortgage free by that date
4) All the way through, put our family first...spend as much time as possible with our kids supporting them to become good, responsible and happy adults with happy memories of childhood and to conitnue to support each other in a loving happy marriage...
5) Find the right balance between saving for retirement and living life to the full.
6) Retire at 55-60 with sufficient income to be comfortable for the rest of our days - without the greedy tax man getting to it - or the NHS/Social Services getting my house in order to pay for my care
7) leave this life happy with a healthy inheritence for my children....0 -

* To clear my debts

Am i allowed to post on this board? I have £600 of debt so not really enough to be posting a diary about etc but i find the posts on here very inspirational in helping me to clear my debts and NOT to let it happen again

Anyway, my plans....
* Pay off my debts by the end of the year
* Live frugally to enable us to save up to do work on our new house (signing contracts soon ) without getting into debt
* Start ttc baby no2 after xmas, hopefully baby no3 will follow in a few years
*To be happy and healthy and look after the people closest to me
* To bring my DD up (and any other lil ones) with strong family values and care and respect for others and teach her how to budget etc
