Daily thread Dec 26, BOXING DAY

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 26th December , Christmas 2006. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Happy Boxing day.

I must say that Christmas seemed a success. All the kids liked their presents and everyone was happy. I think that I could have done with 3 Nintendo DS though. Only one of my kids asked for one, but everyone wanted to play with it. Maybe they will be cheaper at easter for birthdays?

I got so full yesterday I could hardly move, I felt like a walrus. There will have to be a diet started in the new year.

We have my sis in law up for the day today, I shall soon be putting a nice peice of beef in the oven for roast. I may leave out the sprouts though, they had an unpleasant effect yeasterday....

I hope you are all well and have the day off like me.... Merry Christmas.

'Morning N9eav and everyone else who follows :hello:

Sounds like you had a lovely Christmas N9eav :D

Having just jumped on the scales and had a fright  there will be a lot less of the festive treats for me today . It has all been very good though :D

OH said that I made the best Christmas meal he has ever had. I have to put it down to being more confident about trying something different as a result of being a member of this site. The stuffing recipe was from one of Squeaky's links. The only thing I didn't make was the Christmas pud .. it come from M&S .. but I poured a made from scratch custard on it

The main course was duck with red wine, elderberry jelly and orange sauce (the elderberry jelly being HM), HM stuffing served in a separate dish, roast potatoes and roast parsips, Yorkshire puds ... and of course sprouts :D. No starters .. we would have never been able to get up from the table :rotfl:

Hope everyone had a lovely day too and that today you get a bit of rest from being in the kitchen!
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

Morning everyone, and happy Boxing Day to you.

I'm glad Christmas was a success for most people - Roz your disaster made me cringe - I know that feeling of disaster only too well, but you do learn from it and things to improve.

My Christmas was very, very quiet, just spent the day at my parents' house. As always my mother made a lovely meal, very traditional in every aspect.

It's time to hit the sales with a big stick today - need lots of things for the house. Unfortunately I'm not a crowds type of person so might find myself home sooner rather than later and possibly empty handed too.

    Bye for now all.

  • Morning everyone,

Up early again - just wish this little baby didn't like pressing on my bladder all night!

We had a lovely day yesterday - just me and OH and we didn't feel too lonely. It was very chilled out and good fun to suit ourselves. I just wish I wasn't still having morning sickness - it's really unpleasant and I find it really distressing. Once I've had my bout of sickness though, I normally feel much better and nice and hungry so we both made the crucial mistake of eating too much before Christmas lunch - and threw most of the breast meat of my £20 free range chicken and all the veg, chipolatas etc. into the bin! Nevermind. We have certainly learnt our lesson for next year! We've got our pudding to have today at some point (yule log and lots of shop bought custard).

Plans for today include going for a long walk at a nearby forrest, having a Scrabble rematch (I lost but close call yesterday!), making a chicken stock and packing to go to visit relatives early tomorrow morning.

I hope you all have a lovely Boxing Day. I might try and go back to bed now - at the moment, I'm getting up feeling more exhausted than when I went to bed which is really making me feel cr*ppy.

    Lots of love

  • Morning Guys!

Hope everyone had a great day. I got some lovely pressies and parents have wiped our car debt:D DD/OH were happy with their stuff and food/dinner was a success. So a great day here.

Have been into the Debenhams, M&S & John Lewis sales and bought everything we needed, including the pans I were after. Had enough vouchers and found a voucher code for JL...so well pleased! Debenhams & M/S werent too bad either-so in all spent about £60 cash and the rest were vouchers;)

DD going bowling later with friends. I still have a headache and doesnt want to shift:confused:

WM is on with a load and DW will be put on after breakfast. Toilet cleaned and house generally clean ans tidy.

    Hugs to all.

    Breakie: Cooked Breakie(made by OH/DD)

    Goodmorning everyone,

We had a lovely day here yesterday and it all went well. Everyone happy with their gifts. DH bought me a diary (from recycleable paper of course) I chose it :D so it will be great for our trip. Been rainy here today and we've been up at the house most of the day painting. We start the tiling tomorrow.

DSis ventured out to the Boxing Day sales and grabbed some bargains. I hope you do the same Snowy. The crowds put me off also. I really have to be in the mood for it. Hope you all have a great day. Byeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Good morning and a good boxing day to you all. Had a lovely time yesterday and intending to take it easy today apart from some light cleaning as my parents are coming for a few days tomorrow. Looking forward to it as I haven't seen my dad since June.

I have to go play on the Cbeebies website now so have a lovely day everyone!
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.
  • Morning all! Hope you all had a fabby Christmas with all the gifts and food you desired ;)

We had a quiet family day, just the four of us, started off with proper Bucks Fizz and croissants, then had a huge lasagne for lunch, and then just gorged on mince pies, chocs, nuts etc for the rest of the day. Today is our 'Christmas' day, since all my family are coming over for the turkey etc so I've got to go and do the Delia thing in a mo - a bit disappointed with my turkey since it's rather smaller than I anticipated, so will probably have no leftovers :(. It's a fresh one ordered from the supermarket and I had very little choice in the actual size I chose, and it's on the small end of the size range. Oh well. We have loads of sausages, stuffings etc to fill us up.

Place looks like a bearpit so have got to get cracking with the hoover after the bird goes into the oven, also need to decorate the table etc so that Granny's happy (these things matter to her).

If' I'm honest, I could do without all this today, even though we had a quiet day yesterday I'm whacked out with all the extra stuff I've been doing, but hey ho, it's only once a year and I'm sure I'll enjoy it when everyone's here.

Have a great relaxing day everyone!
