At last the definative answer :

There have been a couple of recent threads regarding the purchase of the phone through a 3rd party (CPW/E2Save,etc,etc,) and does this still qualify for the free BB. Well after hounding Orange by e mail for a couple of weeks they finally responded with a YES, as long as it is an Orange contract, you can purchase it anywhere.

So at long last I can take advantage of this offer!!

The downside of this deal though is the low usage allowance.
  • From the 25th, pay another fiver and it'll be max unlimited (FUP) usage.

how low is the usage allowance?
  • By using a reputable cashback site there are clearly some major savings to be had here. Should you be lucky enough to find a good enough offer. There is an L6 currently on offer on canary (325 x-net minutes and 150 texts) at cpw with 12 months at 99p on an 18 month contract.

    http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/commerce/servlet/gben-pd-ProductDisplay?PN=CLEARANCE.2006.OCTOBER.ORANGE.MOTL7W1299&origin=SPECIALOFFER&tabname=

Assuming you get the cashback and reading the recent survey you should, this will cost £192 until the end of the contract. Go through Quidco and this becomes around £156. So £8.65 per month including free broadband, or pay the extra £5 (little choice in that) and its £13.65.

I'm currently paying Orange £18 for unlimited broadband with no mobile included. Think this will change. Thanks for advice John_G66.

  • Got the moneysaving bit between my teeth now.

Onestopphone shop has this current offer on the L6 on orange canary:

    http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk/index.php?&B[0][next][0]=&B[0][tariff]=P30CC&B[0][handsetcode]=ORAL6CLR

    14 months free (cashback deal) then £30 a month X 4 = £120

    Less £42.50 through Quidco

Ebay the phone and use sim in current model. Recent sales around £50+

About £30 for 18 months worth of phone and broadband, £1.67 a month (or with the extra £5 for unlimited),. £6.67 a month.

There must be a flaw with this surely? (apart from having to deal with onestopphoneshop).

    Any thoughts?

You only need to take out a 12 month contract now to get the free broadband, I took out a CPW cashback deal and phoned orange up and they just extended by contract by a day and gave me free broadband - should get all the equipment soon.

So the only final question is does it invalidate your contract, to be honest I really do doubt it as CPW just require a paper bill and as long as it shows your on the same tariff they pay you. In my own experience they have no idea whats going on as they have sent me over £200 TOO MUCH in cheques over the last couple of months so I doubt their system would even be capable of knowing about the broadband even if it was against their terms.

So here's hoping free broadband and free contract for 12 months :)

Ummm it makes ya wonder, I can have a contract with t-mobile, vodaphone, virgin, O2 all of these have ok'd me on a credit check yet orange have refused me after a credit check with CPW and OSPS, they are happy to take my money each month for broadband but refuse me a contract:confused: yet have asked me to go instore (ORANGE SHOP) and they will do another credit check there, yeah right:rolleyes:

I am on Orange BB and a PAYG customer who has been mulling over this deal for the last couple of weeks. I would much prefer to go the 12 month route so have just phoned customer services and chap insisted I would need an 18 month contract. I'm in no way suggesting that you didn't get this deal but wonder if it is a bit of a 'SKY' situation where different operators tell you different things.

It steers me towards an 18 month contract to be on the safe side, will still work out about only £13 a month (including extra £5 for unlimited). Would much have prefered free though.

Well ultimately its up to you but you have nothing to lose doing the 12 months as you could always cancel within 7/14 days.

There are other people on rpoints who have done this with a 12 month contract.

Basically I think 99% of customer services will say oooh no has to be 18 months and has to be direct through orange because they have been versed so say this as it makes orange loads more ££££££££££. However as soon as you speak to the actual staff on the special deal phone no. its all plain sailing and they have no problem with just a 12 month contract at all.

    2GB I think.
