Any idea what the max/min payments to the regular saver are, and any other terms?

Thanks Omar - will keep it in mind with First Direct seemingly planning to shaft customers by charging for current account banking...

I closed my premier direct account with them in May (intending to reapply in September after the 'three months' mentioned in their terms and conditions had elapsed and I requalified as a 'new' customer.) It was annoying that they only offered 10% RS to 'new' customers at that time (thus driving a wedge with existing ones when it was brought out.) Now imagine how the 'stayers' who couldn't get the 10% but thought: "It's still a good bank account." will be feeling by their bank upping the ante... and still offering them nothing.

This looks very attractive indeed to 'tarts' like us (and it is - if I do requalify - it just makes my decision to ditch them all the more justified) but has A&L even stopped to consider if it is attracting exactly the 'wrong' sorts of customers and failing to reward exactly the 'right' kind at the same time?

How can they re-instate the £50 recommend a friend for new customers only, I have an account already, if I refer a friend will they get £50 and I get £25 or will we both get £50 or both get £25 since one is a new customer and one not?
If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.

With exquisite bad timing, A & L have chosen today - a day when interest rates have gone up - to tell me that the interest rates on their Online Saver account are going...er...down.

Good lord! 12%! Time to see if I can open an account or if they do check the 3 months rule.

I'm about to refer someone with my first £25 voucher (having referred many this year with £50 vouchers), and 3 different A&L call centre staff have today suggested it might be better not to post the voucher yet!!!

They have all told me that the £50 referral is being reinstated for all account holders - new and old.

As Martin Lewis says, in his weekly e-mail, all will be revealed tomorrow.

Yes.....anyone who sends in vouchers that state £25 before 3rd Aug will get the £25...anyone after 3rd Aug will get the upper limit regardless.

Regular Saver will be 12% up to £250 per month, overdraft 0% 12 months and 6% on current account bit.
