If you buy any item with the above shops, they wont accept the item back if you change your mind in 7 days.
First idiot reply from them will be, once you open the box we cannot replace. But without open how can you find out that one is good or not. for e.g if the lcd tv picture is really bad. how can you check without open.
But when you go to buy, they would not tell this in advance.

Look at the ones on display?Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Well don't assume you have the right to return goods (except where they're faulty) unless it's explicitly stated. Any returns policy offered is always in addition to your statutory rights, not automatic.
As pointed out, don't they have all models on display? If not you can always ask if they will be willing to put one out for you. And if they do have it on display get them to demonstrate different channels, inputs etc so you get the full picture (so to speak)0 -
BULL####,if you buy something and you're not happy then return it within a decent timeframe0

Thanks
Firstly, you should check your equipment is compatible, and ask the sales assistant if you're not sure. If the product has a fault, then yes, you'd get a replacement if you bring it back within a reasonable time.
Would you be happy to take a TV that's been opened, setup and then returned by someone else because it didn't have enough connections?Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. We bought a 19" TV from Comet which wasn't on display. When we got it home we thought the sound was too 'tinny', packed it back into box and returned it (swapped for a different one) - no problem.0

That's not really fair on the retailer though, why should they lose out just because you changed your mind after the fact? The big chains can often afford to absorb the costs, which is why they usually offer returns policies, but it's not always the case for smaller businesses.
Of course, if the goods are faulty, not as described or otherwise not fit for the purpose then that's a different case, and that's why we have legal protection in the form of the Sales of Goods Act and related legislation. I'm all for good, strong consumer rights but at the end of the day these have to be balanced against the rights of the business0 -
Have to agree with Darksun why should the retailer be out of pocket just because you changed your mind, they sell items not try before you buy. If there is a problem with it you have rights to a return. A company can not sell an opened product as new as it now classed as used and will have to resell at a reduced rate.
Truthman no doubt you were charged more than expected so took it back for a refund!!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
