Can I really save £263/year by switching to EDF Energy?

I've just done a USwitch comparison and found that I can save £263/year. I sceptical so thought I'd post here to gauge opinion.
Current supplier for Duel Fuel is British Gas on their Click Energy 5 tarriff. I'm presently spending £82/mth on Gas and £47/mth on Electricity.
USwitch has suggested Online S@ver 5 Dual Fuel from EDF Energy and say tha this will save me £263/year.... thats £21/mth + a case of wine from USwitch.
Should I be sceptical? I can't see any 'hidden' terms on the EDF Energy product.
Thanks in advance. Rich.

Sounds a believable sum.
You may prefer to use Topcashback or Quidco to switch instead of Uswitch - that way you will have £60 to £80 cash to spend on your own choice of wine rather than the bin ends Uswitch is trying to get rid of.0 -

How did you do the comparison? Did you enter usage figures in kwh/units or in £££s? The estimate is only accurate when you enter kwhs/units.0

As glider said to get a true comparison you really need to use units/kwh. Ring BG and ask them to provide an annual consumption for both your fuels using accurate rather than estimated reads.
It looks like your paying a fixed monthly DD which can mean that your actual usage maybe different to the amount your paying.
As a guide line some of my relatives were on british gas core & relativly low users i managed to save them ~£1800 -

Not exactly hidden, but there is a £50 exit fee to transfer away before 31st March 2011.
As others have said, ensure you do the comparison using actual annual consumption figures in kWh, not what you currently pay monthly, to ensure you have an accuarte result before committing."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I can really save over £400 if I switch to them, I've done the maths and it is right.0

That's because you appaer to be on an horrendously expensive tariff with a different supplier currently

Edit: and you seem to be confused by it"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

As already said do NOT use your expenditure to get a real comparison, enter your usage/consumption figures in kwh, then you just have to hope that you use the same amounts of gas and electricity this year as last and that there are no price changes.
It's not as scary or as complicated as I've possibly made it sound but at least you should now have everything to reach your decision.0 -
EDF are coming up top for me too - saving me about £300 per year!! Quidco offer more cashback than Topcash Back as well!0

I am not in the slightest confused by it, what a cheek. For your info I have been locked in with B.G for last year whilst sorting out a stupid mistake they made reading my meter. It's taken as I said a full year to resolve problem. Now they have zeroed my account and given me £100 apology I'm now free to walk. And if I can save myself £400 doing it then why the ridicule? Thought that was what we were all here to do.
As an entirely electric house yes my usage may seem high to others who have gas but my carbon footprint is classed C on I Measure so is obviously not that bad.0
