Can I really save £263/year by switching to EDF Energy?

Thanks for the update. I guess we both had similar letters. In fact the answer to my question was so easy I missed it. At the bottom of the EDF letter you are directed to EDF's online signup page where you can choose a new tariff, including the Online s@ver V5 one. Two mins later and I'm registered!0

I just had a letter from EDF putting my prices up, their online saver v5 was cheapest on all comparison sites for me but only available to new customers... thought it couldn't hurt to call them anyway and they let me have the online tariff, so very pleased and no hassle of switching to a new supplier (which I would have done if they'd said no, think OVO came up 2nd cheapest, but would have been annoyed as I happen to like EDF's service... and Nectar points!).
So def worth calling them and asking if you know which tariff you want!
Oh and it is online only, obv, but I did everything online anyway on the standard tariff and like it that way. :j
I am with EDF and too wanted the online saver 5, rang them up and they have let me have it.0 -
As some have said use really usage to the OP £84 per month on gas seems high! Also if using Quidco for cashback mine didn't track and then it is a very narrow window for claiming and then it will be at least 6 months before I get my money, currently I am on 4 months and still waiting for cashback although they did finally switch my gas 6 days a go!!0

Thanks.
I am in the same situation and changed by phone today. Apparantly its internet only if you are a new EDF customer.
Also there has been confusion that you have to take both gas and electricity to get this tariff. It was clarified that you can have electricity, or dual, but not gas only. Call centre had no reason for this rule.0 -

I did all the figures on U switch and yes I did them correctly. with actual bill readings. They said they could move change my bill from £120 per month to £95 per month - so I switched.
A couple of months down the line they said we werent paying enough and now have to pay £200 per month.
Not sure where their figures come from but wish Id never bothered
The switching sites don't lie (unless they have made a typo) if you use exactly the same kWh's as you input your annual bill will be as stated. Check your aaccount after 3 months and see if you are in credit and get the DD reduced.
Don't forget that this winter will probably have lead to more consumption and the way they calcualte estimated annual bills and therefore DD will be based on taking your first couple of annual reads applying them to the standarad gas consumption bell curve to estimate an annual read. So if your first coouple of reads are high this will effect your estimated annual bill.
Once you have built up credit yo will be able to get your DD reduced.0
