last night I cried!

This will sound ridiculous, I am a grown man with a family.
However I could not help myself and broke down last night, luckily was able to get out of the way so that my son did not see.
I have no choice, but to go bankrupt, but anyone who thinks that we are taking an easy way out need to think again!
I know once I have done it I will feel nuch better, but it is very frightening, especially when you are already so stressed over finances.
Just had to tell someone and this feels like a place to do it.
Thanks

hi there..welcome to the br board
we are a friendly lot who will try and help you anyway we can
i'm so sorry to hear you've reached such a point
noone on this board would think you're taking an easy way out, far from it!! it's terrible when you reach that dawning realisation, but things do get better i promise!
have you taken advice from one of the debt charities? they will be able to give you your options and the implications. i rang national debt helpline who were very very helpful, non-judgemental and frankly brilliant. but any of the debt charities would be able to help, or the CAB.
i went br yesterday:eek: it was such a difficult decision and facing up to it was a big step. the process itself isn't particularly difficult, but the emotional punishment i dished out to myself (and continue to) is the hardest bit.
i would suggest you get some advice and post any questions on here.
good luck x0 -
Thanks for the support, it's nice to have people that have travelled the same path.
I know it's the right thing to do, have spoken to various charities with pretty much the same advice.
I am terrified, I will forget a creditor, I know it sounds ridiculous, but this hell has been going on for so long and in my depression I have not always been great at looking after the paperwork.
Still your support is so appreciated.
Regards

Hi
Just sending you some :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: to let you know you are not on your own. As one who is going through it I do understand how you are feeling. Try not to beat yourself up too much. It will get better and taking control is the first step.
It can be a scary process so don't be afraid to ask anything you want to because there will be someone that has been there. Even if you just need to talk.
It will get better
Good luck

Hi Korben, I know where you are coming from. We go BR next Wednesday and the nerves are really starting to kick in. Got an appointment with our GP at 11.20 as I am struggling to cope. Filling in our forms is starting to make me feel like a failure and that it is all getting too much. The people on here are brilliant and have a way of making you see things in a different light, but I understand how you are feeling and the anguish that goes with it. Just keep posting on here and the wonderful forumites will help you through it.:pB&SC No. 298

Hi Korben.
I can't echo the sentiments of the other posters enough.
It is hard, but the help and support is here if and when you need it.
By the way, a BR order covers all your debts. It is a legal thing. It does not matter if you forget to list a creditor. They are still legally covered by the BR order. It is a fairly common thing for ones to be left out or forgotten, which is not surprising given that the forms are filled in at a time of great stress. But you don't need to worry that you might miss one out.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I think once I have sat down and done the forms I will be OK, just need to stop provaricating and get on now.0
