Need to sort out new security for the PC

Have been looking at the relative merits of Norton 3.0 compared to Kaspersky 2010

What are people's thoughts? (Without geting tooooooo technical please!)

Thanks

Kaspersky every time. Norton is simply terrible, it can't detect a real threat, but will flag up plenty of false positives, while at the same time killing system speed.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.

I have to agree with timbim - Kaspersky wins hands down.

    Norton really is THAT bad...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

My local pc shop has a board with a list of the worst ever programs on it.
    Near the top is Norton.
Avoid like the plague - it's worse than useless and will probably slow your computer to around half it's normal speed while also not working as well as many others eg Kaspersky, Sophos, Comodo and no doubt many others.

Nortons no where near as bad as it used to be but Kaspersky still beats it in my personal opinion

kaspersky is supposedly better but norton is more user friendly. i have kaspersky and i still dont have a clue about how to use most of the functions. i also keep suffering attempted attacks by the helkern worm.

You can get Kaspersky for free with a On-line Barclays account.

There are viruses for Macs, just most virus writers don't bother as windows is easier to hack and has a much larger market share....
