  • INFERTILITY
    MOST AT RISK: VEGETARIANS

About one in six couples experience problems trying to conceive and there is some evidence showing that the problem is compounded by a vegetarian diet.
Studies have suggested that eating large amounts of soya, popular with vegetarians because it provides protein, can affect a woman's fertility.
Researchers at King's College London showed that a compound in soya called genistein sabotages sperm as it swims towards the egg.
Genistein is present in all soya products. The researchers recommended that women avoid soya around the most fertile times of the month to aid conception.

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

*breathes* "I am only on my first TTC cycle, I am only on my first TTC cycle.......and I only have soya milk"

Just to say, on the above from the previous thread, I haven't eaten meat for 20 years, I regularly eat soya products and drink soya milk and was successful on my TTC 6 months ago after 5 months of trying.

I did do a bit of research into soya at the time, but found that the levels that were deemed as high were more than I would typically consume.

Hey all, haven't been around for ages and I find a new thread!! Probably just as well as I have about 100 pages to get through on the old one!

I'm somewhat alarmed about the vegetarian/fertility post above as I've been a veggie for 20 years - although I tend to eat quorn more than soya - am I clutching at straws here by thinking it's fungus based rather than soya based?

Anyways, I haven't been here for ages because work is crazy busy, and well, there's been nothing to report... until now..

We've been TTC for about 18-24 months give or take, and after my gynae app in June (my birthday!) I was told that the next step would be a lap and dye, so I've done my day 3 and 21 bloods and OH has provided a sample :D

Fast forward to now and AF still hasn't showed up - the last time she was over 29 days was January. I took a test and I'm not sure if there is a very very very faint line or if I'm imagining it - I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much as my longest cycle was 34 days. I've been getting little twinges in my stomach for the last few days - although I don't know if that's imagination or usual AF signs and I've had no other symptoms whatsoever.

If there's still no-show on Saturday, I'll do another test and see if the line is any darker - only problem - my hen night is on Friday, so I have to think of some excuse not to drink! Incidently, do you think I'd be OK to do ten-pin bowling??

    ooooh, nice shiny new thread!!

Tryint To Conceive abbreviations are HERE

CD14 for me and I had loads of EWCM last night. No positive on the OPK yet, but I worked out last night I'm not due to ov until the weekend.

I'm absolutely knackered! OH got up early this morning to go do his course thingy and they weren't even there. Not even as much as a note on the door so he's going to kick off when he goes in next time:mad:

Sorry for the rant, just yesterday was a bad day and I think it's spilling over to today!

Not got much to report tbh I'm at the start of the 2ww and got very emotional last night watching tv, not like me at all:o The 1st one can be forgiven as it was the news and watching the precession(?) for the 8 soldiers who were killed:cry:
But the other one was odd, i was watching the end of 'Katie & Peter', they were doing the London Marathon(normally I don't have time for them but nothing else was one) and for some reason I ended up in heart-wrenching sobs:eek: Thank god I was home alone or Dh would've had me committed:rotfl:

Anyway hope all is well with everyone, fingers crossed for the testing and stickybabydust to everyone xxx

Hello shiney new thread.... hope it brings lots of babydust to all the lovely girlies on here:A

CD15... no ov yet. Not sure what date I should put on "the list" for testing:confused:

Had a bit of a poo day yesterday:( Going to keep myself busy today with work and deciding on what flooring to have in kitchen. Got some of those sample booklets from carpet place.... they were really heavy to carry up the hill home:eek:

I haven't seen my best friend who is due next month for a few weeks and I'm feeling a little bit like she isn't involving me much... and I'm getting all upset over it:o Maybe it'll be different when baby is here:confused:
