That's right, due out this week but for upgrades only at this moment in time, it seems the monopoly has been broken!!

This would be a positive development for iPhone buyers (even though I'm on O2 right now :p). What evidence do you have to support this news?

I would love to know if this is true, my contract expired yesterday and I about to leave t-mobile after years because I want an iphone.

Great news if it's true, but I cancelled 2 contracts yesterday giving the reason that I wanted an I Phone and I was offered just about everything but.

Still - I have the 30 days notice period to change my mind!

  • I can 100% guarantee this is true i'm not sure which day this week but it will be this week, this wont be advertised or made publice but will be used as tool to retain customers leaving, im not sure on all the pricing yet but will know in the next few days. if you have set notice then yes call later this week and ask as you can remove your notice within the 30day period. please post when your successfull

I hope this is true as competition is seriously needed for the iPhone, but I'll believe it when I see it, I can't see Apple doing this off their own backs.

I am not very inclined to believe this, even though as a consumer I want this to be true. I can't see Apple doing this, as Sol00 says. The reason being that having more than one carrier compete in the UK market to sell the iPhone will take some of the iPhone pricing power away from Apple. By allowing only one operator to sell this highly demanded phone Apple can dictate terms - if O2 has to compete with T-Mobile on price, for example, they can push back.

that and t-mobile always seem to get phones much later than other operators, if another operator was going to get the iphone i would bet on orange.

Agreed - You would have thought that retentions might have told me to hold on a week if it were true + it seems that the only place the news is breaking is here - nothing on any of the iphone forums I read.
