Official Insert:

If you've Satellite Navigation in your car this is a great heads up. Tomtom has just released a new update for its TomTom Go. It's usable if the version number on your TomTom GO is lower than 5.440. Unfortunately it can't be used if you've a TomTom One or TomTom Rider

Hi,

Just to let you know that there is a new update

I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.
I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.
Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far!

  • Nice tip Stanmoresaver,

Just downloaded mine, thanks, I probably needed it cause when I drove up north at the w/e, the M18 (top of M1/A1m) was showing as the middle of a field :rotfl:
you know when you're getting older - the wife says, "let's go upstairs and make love" and you reply, "I can't do both" !!

    Thanks Stanmoresaver,
I have just got a new GO 700 and the version is 5410, so it needs the new update, always assuming i dont make a C--- up with the downloading.
  • I have Tom Tom Go 300. How much does the update cost? and is in any better than the 4.5 version?

Its a free update and should work with the 300. Just follow the link stated above.

When I originally bought my 300, I had some trouble in downloading the lastest maps even with a fully charged battery. Although TomTom sell a mains charger, which ensures the process works, it's not exactly a bargain and I found that my local "motor bits" shop could supply a 240v to 12V cigarette device for around half the money.

Also, anyone who bought a TomTom from Halfords at Xmas and still can't get a kit from them to install it in a second car might try their local Tesco's - since xmas, my local branch has not only stocked the machines, but also a good range of accessories.

Thanks very much for this tip Stamoresaver. I bought a TomTom700 last weekend as I had a lot of travelling around to do this week & I really don't know how I used to cope without it!

Looks like even though I just bought it, the version is old so I'll be trying your update link myself.

    Thanks again!
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out
  • Just to let you know the up dates are only software up dates not map updates so you will still end up in a field

Think you have to pay ££££s and buy latest maps to get out of fields

Also if you have card reader up date it using that (dont need mains or 12volts then )
