Scrappage is already becoming a sellers market.

On Sunday a Vauxhall dealer quoted £7071. cash sale on a Vauxhall 1 litre Agila Club with air conditioning with a delivery date around 19th May.
Yesterday, (Wednesday) same dealer quoted for same vehicle £7,9xx. with a firm delivery of 22nd June.
Another dealer has similar vehicle, said to be in stock on website, advertised for £7,095. I hope to get it today.
Be quick; shop around for vehicles "in stock"
It was ever thus. We all use "the market" as we attempt to buy low and sell high as Gordon failed to do with "our" gold, as BBC Radio Five Live reported just now when he bought very high having sold very low in 1999. Yet more UK debt for our children and grandchildren to pay for, probably before we get a fair deal for pensioners. It’s no wonder yesterday we are being told today’s workers may not get a pension till there 70.:rolleyes:

agree, and you can be damn sure Gordy and all his buddies will have their retirement plans all nicely lined up.

Maybe but I think most people go into politics for good reasons and I think most people do what seems "right" most of the time although I try to ensure I get as fairer deal as others & I do not want them to get a better deal than me.
Probably true but I’m at the stage where good intentions aren’t enough, I want to see results0 -
I have today bought a non scrappage Agila Club which dealer had in stock, silver metallic. £6,995. It had been registered on 31/3/09 and was already heavily discounted by manufacturer. It was about £1,000. cheaper than cheapest scrappage deal open to me today. It seems as if dealers were already discounting new vehicles to lower price than scrappage deal is now making available, so the market is not to be bucked, it would seem.
I now have a 93 Renault Espace in poor condition to get shot off, any takers? MOT runs till 11th July. I expect I will scrap it.Andrew S Hatton0 -
The change in price is because the dealer is having to use £1k of his discount allowance to pay the mfr's obligatory £1k scrappage contribution.
Discounted cars are just that..already discounted. The £2k reduction is to be achievable off published list price, not off already- discounted deals...you cannot have both i.e. double-discounting.“Official Company Representative

With the fields of the UK full of thousands of brand new, unsold cars, and Ford and Vauxhall`s recent price INCREASE,it makes you wonder what`s exactly going on.
One would have thought to get rid of these already overpriced vehicles,a big price DECREASE would have been more in order.
Recession,what recession?0 -
don't you have to own the car for a year before you can use it against the scrap value when trading?Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0
-
yes you do, so people cannot pick one up a banger from ebay and take it in (not unless you've stored it for 12 months first)0
-
Looks like the car manufacturers have decided to store them in fields for 12 months in the hope things might get better then.
Some hope!0 -
