Tesco delivery (grocery) Not turned up!

Hi all,

Absolutley fuming, had £91 of shopping due to be delivered this pm by Tesco between 5-7pm. Still no sign at 7.30pm so rang through to customer service, promptly had my £3.99 refunded (which pleased me) :j and was told it would be an hour.

Rang again at 9pm, was told driver had van probs, so would be with me shortly! By this time had to go to chippy for tea, as we were starving, and buy nappies at an extortionate price from local shop!

Still no sign at 10pm....hubby goes to bed. Rang through at 10.15 guy rang driver who told me he would be here at 11pm!!!

At 10.59 managed by the skin of my teeth to get back through to cs ( with 1 minute spare) and was told by a quite nice lady, that it was highly unlikely that it would coming tonight now, she could book me tomorrow between 8-10pm.

This means that we have no bread, breakfast things etc..........packed lunch meats and fruit etc....absolutley fuming, told her to get a manager to ring me first thing in the morning.

i think this is unacceptable....what do you all think?

Cheers guys

    Hi Pot,

I'd be absolutely fuming! If I were you I'd call Tesco CS first thing in the morning and ask to speak to a supervisor. Tell him/her step by step what happened with your delivery and detail all the excess money you had to lay out. Request that as a refund, plus half the cost of your Tesco shop as compensation. You might not get half back but it's a good point to start at ... hell, I'd probably as for it ALL free and let them talk me down a bit.

    Let us know what happens.

This would be my biggest fear of using internet grocery shopping - give them hell!!

Have you seen their profits? The least they can do is have a reliable service and vehicles
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:

Whether there was a genuine reason for non delivery, van broke down or whatever, they should have at least contacted you to let you know so you could make arrangements.

Plus I suppose there is more than one van available...or they could have sorted a cab to do the delivery! They might have the profits but I doubt they have the brains!

    I fully agree lol :o
Take notice of this post ( Ask for the full price of the shopping )
then let them talk you down !
Tescos profits were unreal, tell them you shop faithfully there & could have easily gone to Asda.
They probably won't even consider the full amount in compensation but you could get a 20 - 40 pound gift card :o
better than a kick in the eye lol ;)
    Good luck

I thought it was bad enough on Sat when I'd booked a slot between 9-11am. Had a phone call just after 9 to say due to the weather they'd be there between 11-1pm, which I agreed to reluctantly. Still no sign at 3pm, and like you, no phone call either. So I phoned CS, who phoned the driver and I got told that it would be another hour. I was fuming by this point as like most of us weekend time is precious and I wanted to go out. 4.15pm it turned up. I have sent them an email complaining, but no reply. Sent another one this morning, but think i'll have to phone. Just defeats the object of getting it delivered.

Being kept waiting until the time that you did is more than ridiculous.

Just to put the opposite view - we must be among the lucky ones. Delivery last night booked for 9-11pm (only available slot when we ordered) and had the driver phoning to ask if he could come at 7.30.p.m. Whilst we've had products occasionally missed off the list, never had any problems getting a credit back straight away on the phone and no major problems with the service since we started using it over five years ago, even getting a delivery to our new home on the day we moved.

  • Cheers for all your replies guys, I was that fuming that when I stormed off to bed at 11.30pm I couldn't sleep for ages!

I think that they are totally unreasonable, and am even more fuming now, as I never thought about a cab, or their profits!!!!

What really pi$$e$ me off, is that I have no car (in for mot work for about 3 days), and 3 kids, 2 of whom need a pack lunch making NOW, and nothing to go in it, can't go the the local supermarket as it only opened at 8, and we need to leave to walk to school at 8.30.

I have got a pan of pasta on, so they will have to have tuna, mayo, pasta. And £1 each for fruit/yoghurt at school! (Although wont tell tesco that)

The last lady that I spoke to said she has put a note on my file for the Manager to ring me this morning, but I gotta feeling i will probably be chasing him up all morning too!

I feel quite guilty that we had run so low on everything, and said to my husband when he rang b4 that I feel like a pauper telling them there was no bread, nappies etc in - He said "thats why everyone goes shopping, when theres nothing in"...... Suppose that thethought of arguing and feeling belittled by a Tesco manager is looming in the back of my mind - but they wont get me on this one!!!
