Due to complete friday...someone has put in a higher offer

Got a call from our solicitor this morning. The estate agent say they've had an offer 2.5k more than ours on the property we're due to complete on on friday.

So far we're just waiting to hear if the selling company are still going to proceed with our offer.

It's a repossession, and there's been no firm interest in the property since the beginning of september...so I wonder if there's a chance the EA are trying it on...!

Hopefully the selling company will proceed with the sale as we're days away from completing.

You'd have to go higher than 2.5k or are they willing to let you match it?

No interest since Sept - but with your advertised lower offer has tempted someone maybe?

You haven't exchange yet? You will exchange contracts AND complete on Friday?

We can't match the offer....the property was up for £86k, but we had the price reduced because someone had broke in and stole the boiler.

    Our offer stands at £82500.

Have you spoken to the agent to see whether the company that are selling the property are going to accept this higher offer? It may well be that they take the view that you are 4 days from completion whereas this new sale will be 3/4 weeks behind you.

Sometimes in these circumstances the seller would rather have the money quicker and the extra 2.5k is irrelevant. In other cases they may take the view that even £500 more is important to them.

My advice....speak to the agent, it may well be that they recommend getting the sale through quickly
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)
    Ignore......check!

The estate agent has received the offer and passed it onto the selling company, they're waiting from them to see if they're going to do anything with the new offer.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
This is my worry. We are thinking about making an offer on a repossession but I would be worried that this could happen because the agent has to keep it on the market and put any offers forward right up until the last minute.

I hope you can get this sorted and I will watch this thread with interest. Good luck.

i think thats very wise of them sticking with you, whos to say they other people don't offer more now and when it gets closer reduce the price. Good luck, this is one of the reason that put me off buying a repo.

I've just arranged the transfer of our deposit so we can get the contracts exchanged ASAP the other people coming back with a higher offer.
