Going through some of the recipes on the board and in the mega index - can we compile a list of storecupboard basics, you know the cheap and cheerful ingredients than can turn the old leftovers into something super scrummy - if we can stick to say five each that would be great...
Thanks Sue

I would say: flour, butter, eggs, rice/pasta and milk
You could, (assuming you had herbs, spices and sugar, but not essential) make a huge number of both savoury and sweet dishes using some or all of the above:
eg pies and crumbles using left over meat and veg or fruit
make rissotto or pasta dishes with leftover bits 'n' bobs, with a white sauce
extend the gravy and cook meat in it the day after the roast
pancakes with leftovers (sweet and savoury again)
the list goes on.......but I have to run now0 -
parmesan
basil
tinned tomatoes
soya sauce
marigold stock granules0 -
Tinned tomatoes (pasta sauces, soups, curries)
Baked Beans
Chilli Powder
Mixed herbs
Plain flour (just add eggs for hm pasta or marge for pastry, dumplings etc)Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.
