Bank of Ireland Gold Mastercard

Hi,

Recently applied for a Bank of Ireland Gold Mastercard and received some documents that consist of a proposal (completed application form) and a credit card agreement regulated by the consumer credit act. Both filled in with my details awaiting my signature.

Does that mean i've been accepted, being i've received these forms asking me to sign them and return with I.D? I thought they only issued the agreement once you'd been accepted......

Can someone please clarify/assist especially if they have a BOI Gold mastercard....

I initially got declined and appealed, forgot about it and then these forms came through so i'm wondering if it's all been accepted after my appeal but don't want them to search me again!!!

ahh even though i've appealed? so why would they do that when they declined me, then I appealed then these arrive? It doesn't make sense for them to search again cos they'd have just said no at the time I appealed, wouldn't they?

Did you get the same forms as me, it pretty much (without spelling it out) tells me just to return these forms with ID for my application to progress. Progress to me is defined as 'to completion'......

Yes. It was an application form which I had to sign and return with ID and my most recent CC statement if I wanted to transfer. A few weeks later I got a letter from Dublin declining me.

    Hiya

Thanks for info - helps... but still confused why they wouldn't just write and say sorry, original decision stands?

Ok, can I check - did you apply online and have a search performed against you at that point, then did you get another search done against you when the forms were sent back?

I was searched back in Jan, part of my appeal was my (then) blank Experian credit report. Hoping they have used this as a basis to accept me - that is why I can't understand why they'd waste time and money sending me forms to sign to then refuse me straight after?

I'm thinking in the old days (last year even) they didn't allow full applications with instant decision online did they, maybe they do similar to RBS/Natwest and do a second check prior to opening....

I applied online and was searched against Equifax. Then they sent the forms which I sent back. Wasnt searched against Equifax again (dunno about Experian) and then a few weeks later I was declined

Hmmm, weird. Ok well i'll let you know what they do with mine. If they refuse i'll go mad cos to be honest you shouldn't sign a CCA until the facility has been offerd, its an agreement by them saying they agree to lend to you therefore why would they then refuse you afterwards?

Are you 100% sure you got the actual CCA? (Credit Card Agreement regulated by the cosnumer credit act)

I'm maybe just hoping too much LOL but for the same respect if someone at underwriting has passed it so far after my appeal I don't see them now checking again to say no. Its already been reviewed by an underwriter remember.....

By the way, I was searched at both Equishyte & Experian at the same time (same date)

    Hi MMadness. How are u?

I think it is likely they will perform a credit check after they received your credit agreement application.

It is likely they will perform two credit checks, one when you applied online (probably with Experian) and then when they got your forms back, they do another check with another credit agency (further credit checks), usually Equifax.

Some CC companies accept applications online and make decisions very quickly and sent out a credit card via post because they are only using one credit ref agency.

I recall you have a very poor credit file with Equifax due to identity fraud? You should sort this out ASAP for your own interests. More and more companies now credit search two credit ref agencies - primarily Experian and Equifax.

For example I applied with capital one online last year.

I noticed they used Experian at the time online application and they sent off my CCA agreement forms for me to sign and sent back. They did another additional check, this time with Equifax - both on different dates.

Didn't you applied too many credit products recently? If i can remember -62? Don't you think you should have a break and give your credit file a breather? LOL

Hi mate but my point remains - they have already rejected me - said no - told me to !!!!!!'orf - the lot! I then SUCCESSFULLY appealed so why would they then search me again cos they know it will come back as a refer, like the last one? Do you follow me?

An underwriter has already looked into this, they must have so surely they won't use automated processes when I return the forms cos they know it will reject but after an appeal you get manual action - don't you?

Sorry misunderstood you there! I have this knack of reading too fast!

Very odd. Yes they check manually with appeals.
