I'm not very good with putting in links, hope this works, if not do a search for Hotel in Barcelona and it should come up.

My husband stayed in the Jazz hotel, you will find it on Trip Advisor, he said he loved it!

  • As mentioned in the previous post, use https://www.tripadvisor.com for a good information source on hotels. I would recommend the Hotel Citadines on the Ramblas, as a well-positioned hotel at a good price.

Last year I went to Barcelona with some friends and we stayed in the Hotel Del Comte which is about 10 - 15 mins walk from Las Ramblas.
The hotel is featured in the Cresta City Breaks brochure and at the time we paid approx £30 a night to stay there. However, we were fortunate enough to have in our party a lady who spoke very good Spanish and she contacted the Hotel and booked it direct through them, much, much cheaper than booking through Cresta. A very nice hotel and very close to Las Ramblas and all shops. If you google it you can get a few photos of the hotel.
    Hope that helps !!

Best way to get to centre from this hotel is on foot.

If you get the city bus tour, it stops at all the famous sights and you can get on and off as you please. It even stops at the football stadium but, thankfully, the day we went, it was shut !! Make sure you visit the Gaudi museum and the wonderful Sagria De Familia Cathedral. We didn't go in as it is just as spectacular from outside. The City bus is very cheap and you could do all the sights in a day.
Don't forget to go down to the harbour, there are some nice posh shops there, and if you want to take in a Flamenco show there are some available on Las Ramblas, just ask at the restaurants.
  • The Ramblas is certainly a good area which is fairly central to most attractions. I would say though that I would not be too concerned on hotel location as the metro system is fantastic and very cheap. It is 8euros for a T10 ticket, which allows 10 journeys anywhere in city including changing lines if necessary. By the way the metro is very simple to use, I was worried about it the 1st time and had been to Barcelona 4 times prior before trying it but it is very simple, buy your tickets at station or any tobacconist.
Soooo many things to see & do! The bus tour is a good way of seeing sights and getting bearings in city (about 13 euros or 20 for 2 days). Bit cold then for open top which is a shame as everywhere you look up there is stunning architecture.
Magic Fountains (only Sat&Sun in winter) at Montjuic are spectacular and in a spectacular background, check timings at tourist info. Sagrada Familia is a must even if just from outside. Park Guell, again might be a bit cold but still be worth it. Obviously a walk down Ramblas then down to Maremagnum overlooking the Port, Marina is nice too. There are many other things to do but if it's a short break I would prioritise these.

If you do stay away from centre and are out late at night (you will be late), just get a taxi as metro shuts about 2am, they are very reasonable.

100's of great retaurants to choose from (total of approx 10,000), loads of nightlife. As much as Ilove the place i would say locals are not all that friendly and it is unusual for many of them to speak or admit to understanding English.

As for tickets, every time I have been BCN have been away from home, i don't think it is too difficult to get tickets depending on opposition. Good place to look for info on getting tickets would be https://www.tripadvisor.com Also find a lot of other stuff on there from people who have been to Barcelona.

You will love Barcelona, only thing is the weather at that time, I hope your lucky and get the sun while there as it is a total different city when sun is out and bouncing off the buildings. I saw a travel programme on Sky the other day and Barcelona was #1 city in world to visit...I couldn't argue with that.

    Have fun
    Tony.

We stay at either https://www.hotelbanysorientals.com which is in El born area with loads of places to eat and drink and its about 10mins walk to las ramblas for about 90e per room per night, or for a special occasion try https://www.hotelneri.com which is about 200e per room, again only a 10 min walk to las ramblas. Have fun.

I stayed in the Jardi with wife, it used to be very economical. Ultra central, and off season (is there one for Barcelona?) insist on a room with an outside window (facing square). Barcelona can be very noisy but our room had a massive double shutter thing to the tiny balcony you could close out the noise with.
  • check this thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=97055 but I've copied and pasted my post below:

Don't buy them from anyone but the club as they all add their own % in, buying direct is the cheapest, as suggested wait until 14 days before when tickets are released to the general public and you can buy them online at their website, buy calling them up or even getting them on the day, European clubs tend to release tickets every few days to beat touts so you can pretty much always get a ticket. You will love it.

Re: hotel we actually stayed at an apartment, booked via
    www.rent4days.com
We stayed at an apartment for 6 on El born which is near Las Ramblas and the port so quite well located and very nice apartment, area is quite nice and trendy too, think we paid about £300 for 4 nights for all of us, would have spent that in a hotel a night easily, also ask them for a discount if you do book, I did and got about 40 euros off, if you need anymore advice or have any questions post back or PM me. HTH.

  • The airport that Ryanair fly to is actually Girona here is a link for the bus timetable http://www.sagales.com/index.asp?docId=87&MenuID=87&seccio=2
If you want Barcelona FC tickets either follow the advice above or do what I am thinking of doing for my visit in November and buy a membership if you want to guarantee tickets more than 2 weeks in advance. The downside as far as you are concerned is that the membership runs from Janurary to December so you would have to pay for a full year, whereas in my own case I will only have to pay for the quarter.
It is an option though perhaps an expensive one, here is the link

  • Ok i hvae better: Hotel Formula 1 in Mollet del Valles: right next to the station, takes 20 minutes to get to Barcelona and the price is mini: 20 pounds a night and you can put up to 3 people int he room for the same price! Also there are some lovely bars and mini restaurant around where you can have good quality food for cheapo (ask the hotel manager for Chus).
